I'm guessing no one loves living there. They just live there cause they can't figure out how to leave.

The job has me in this area. I grew up here. Both the wife and I are making plans to move *somewhere* once we retire. Some place with less heat in the summer, less crime, less traffic, and more to do. Shouldn't be difficult to find.

I work in IT. This is a so so market for my career although I have made a good living here. I could find another job in almost any area of the country if I wanted to.

I enjoyed living in BR for a long time, but I was looking for a way out and found one. I moved to the Seattle area and absolutely love it here. I'm semi-retired already and may end up moving back down to the area since it's so inexpensive to live down there as opposed to here. I should get $1,000,000 when I sell my place. I figure $300,000 should get me something pretty decent close to the coast, yes?

If ppl wanted to leave they would, many have and it’s not that hard to do.

BR appeals to a lot of people, sorry to those who are unhappy. Something tells me that many would find flaws and grief regardless of location.

In Louisiana or anywhere in the South? Your can certainly find something for that along the Gulf Coast

I love to visit Baton Rouge. Just didn’t want to live there anymore. The 225 is my personal favorite region in the state. I’ve always liked it more than New Orleans and SW Louisiana.

I think it’s my deep love for LSU that makes me be very partial towards BR. It’ll always be special to me. Even with the numerous issues and negative stuff. It’s red stick

I'm poking around NOLA outside the city and from Diamondhead east to Ocean Springs. I've really liked the Pass Christian area when I've visited. I have family in Diamondhead.

I plan on doing a lot of fishing and picking up music gigs here and there. I do the singer/songwriter/hot licks guitarist-for-hire thing as a side project for a little extra cash, but I'll head back up this way to enjoy the PNW summers and avoid the heat/humidity/bugs of the Gulf coast.

Anyone who lives in the same city their entire life, I feel very bad for. What a waste of a life imo

I've lived here 38 of 41 years. There are plenty of people that have a decent life here. It's all pretty much relative to your individual circumstances. We've made a good living in BR.

Nola is fairly expensive but you can find a spot in many of those areas for that price. It would be a nice place to retire and unwind imo.

Many people are afraid to take chances and are OK with the familiarity of the place they grew up. I really enjoy coming home to BR, but I'm a much better person and way better off since I made the move and got out.

I can see Mt Ranier along with the Cascades from my deck on nice days. That's going to be hard to duplicate on the coast.

Algiers seems to be pretty OK. River Ridge is also appealing. Kenner is actually ranked as a very desirable place to live, too.

Family is a big deal to a lot of people, I’d think that keeps people home more than fear of leaving for more money or better amenities

Everyone’s situation is different. It’s a love it or hate it type of place I suppose.

Love going home to see the family in BR but I have zero regrets for leaving.

BR has taken some pretty big hits to what was a pretty damn good resurgence. To the right subset it's still a decent city but it's really getting worse by the day

You're my polar opposite on this board but I asked myself the same thing

Not trolling. I don't want to live in the city. The Old Pointe area of Algiers is pretty cool. I don't really know Kenner, but it showed up in a search of desirable places to retire to. It came in 65th, but that's just someone's opinion based on a few facts.
