You live in the greatest city in the world and you're posting on a message board about a city 5% as big and .0001% as wealthy. What does that say about you?
I lived in NYC for a year. It was fun for awhile but definitely not for me. I don’t really even like big cities anymore except to visit. I just don't care for the crowds and lack of space.
If I worked in a bigger city I'd have to live out in the burbs.

You're trying so hard to crap on BR that you have to move my goalposts to do it.
youre the one making the argument that the "fun stuff" to do in BR is shite no one would do in a decent city

I love LSU and the campus area, lakes, etc. I always will and I’ll always go back to visit. Years after graduating it still feels homely. BR gets old though. Between traffic, lack of activities or beauty compared to many areas, and shitty LA politics it just wasn’t a forever kind of place for me.
The world is a big place and has so much to offer, go find the place that makes you happy. It’s out there for all of us.

After I retired from the Air Force, I moved here to be close to family. Baton Rouge isn't as bad as some of you make it out to be. Anyplace is what you make it. There are far worse places than here, that's for sure.

i grew up in BR, left for college and still live out of town (hammond)...but my office is in BR and i have to drive here every fricking day
i hate it like nothing i've ever hated before and the last time i see baton rouge in my rear view mirror will be a good goddamn day.

You know, if you lived near where you worked, you probably wouldn’t hate BR. What you hate is commuting through shite traffic. I know I hate that. When I lived in BR and commuted without using the interstates and what not, it was a really great place to live. My neighborhood was fairly safe, my neighbors were nice, family was relatively nearby, there were several good restaurants and take-out places within walking distance, close to bars and several live music venues, etc. Only during the dead of summer after baseball season ended did I ever feel even remotely bored.

in terms of Louisiana cities, is BR that bad? Is lafayette really as great as people say?

Worked in baton rouge for 6 months after college, hated the job/traffic so i quit and moved back to Jax. Best decision of my life. You dont notice how bad something really is until you get away from it for a while then return a few years later. Thats baton rouge

If we have to resort to comparing BR to third world countries we are not really making a compelling argument.
