went to LSU for college stayed up there for 8 years.

after 2 years post grad school I finally got out.

After being in AK for about 3 months, I'm definitely never going back to BR or LA.

I could see if you grew up in or around Baton Rouge how people would stay there after going to LSU.

But people who grew up outside of BR then moved to BR for LSU then stayed...idk how they could do that, nothing redeeming in BR outside of LSU.

I'm just hoping it doesn't turn into a welfare city like New Orleans before I die.

Let me restate that. We are already a welfare city. I'm just hoping we don't surpass New Orleans before I die.

I love Baton Rouge because LSU is there and it will always have a place in my heart. I would move there in a heartbeat if half the city didn't resemble a third world craphole.

I loved it there right after we moved from New Orleans. That was 20 years ago. After about 2 years it went downhill real fast. Glad to be back in New Orleans again.

I can bitch about the drivers.
I can complain about the traffic.
I can question Les' calls on 3rd down.

I can still love the people that work, live, and protect us that live there.

BR is a good place to grow up maybe (if you go to rights schools)
I enjoyed my childhood to 6th grade. But I shouldnt have gone to college here

BR isnt on the level of Austin, asheville, charleston, athens, boulder, san diego .

BR needs better racial harmony ( more interacial relationships (white women /black men).
it needs more stuff to do like entertainment, food, and culture

It's come a long way on entertainment, but still has a ways to go. It needs more music venues and more original musicians for sure. I've been trying to do my part, but it's an uphill battle.

It has most of the ethnic bases covered, imo. It could use a Korean BBQ place, maybe better Indian food, and better BBQ. The Jewish deli is opening next month with the new Watermark Hotel

Fix the traffic
Get the schools at least up to mediocre
Reduce crime some
Legit rollercoaster or 2 at Blue Bayou
Add more music venues and more original musicicians, maybe some legit recording studios
More people living downtown
More shopping, nightlife, and restaurants downtown
Some sweet bike trails like what BREC was planning
Better bars near LSU
Connecting LSU with downtown with the City Park Lakes
Competent mass transit

All of this seems to be trying to happen, but is still a work in progress.

I would also like to see The Kingfish come back.
