Got laid off this week. Was thinking of living on savings until I graduate in December and just enjoy being a college student again instead of stressing over a full time job while in school full time. I was thinking of trying out uber or lyft to pay some bills so I don't eat as much of my savings. How is it in Lafayette?

I use it all the time. I don't drive for either of them.

Awesome if you don't mind your car smelling like cheap cologne and hair gel.

I did for about a year. It’s good for some pocket money. There are too many drivers out and about to make any serious bank. Your best days are always the weekends when UL is alive and kicking. Try Waitr. You’ll do a lot better...

I'll look in to it but don't you have a set schedule for that? I have had an active uber license since 2016 but have only done it once or twice in baton rouge. I just applied for lyft and am waiting for a background check.

My neighbor drives for Waitr. You have to commit to a minimum number of hours per week but can drive as much as you want. But definitely check it out.

Waitr

A driver told me he only makes $5 per hour plus tips. Plus, some drivers get significantly more calls/orders from the office (competition among drivers) than others. But I don't have any other hard numbers as to how much you can make with them.

The voice of the Cajuns was our Uber driver the other day. Jay something, you could call into his radio show and ask him about it.

Yeah, if you're going to work for them, this is the time. The MG rates will be sky high.

Hahaha.

Dude has a 2-hour morning radio show, calls UL-L games and still does that?

Boy getting into broadcasting sure sounds good.

Yes, and leads get $7.25

They have some contract drivers that get paid per delivery and can take pretty much any order they want.

Depends on the market size, the shift load, and if the customers are tippers.
