ISIS will tremble in fear at the sight of our diversity and inclusiveness.

DoD Secretary is confusing the military with the kitchen. Probably an autocorrect error. Damn iphones.

If they can do the job without special accommodations/standards then by all means go for it shipmate
but can they?
I served on a submarine, the last class of ship to be 100% male. I have no doubt a woman can handle 99% of the tasks associated with submarine warfare. The 1% being severe damage control when sheer brute force is required to repair leaks. Not many men can handle those situations either.
My concerns are accommodations for females on subs. As a junior sailor, you rarely get a dedicated rack, sometimes sleeping in the Torpedo room, or "hot racking" with 2 other sailors.
Plus there are only a few restrooms/showers on the ship. Having one dedicated to just a few of the crew would piss me off.
If females are exempted from having to deal with those issues, resentment will be instantly be built up amongst the male sailors.

My thoughts instantly turned to infantry, both Marine and Army, where they would become liabilities to the other members of their fireteams all the way around. The marine study indicated they couldn't carry as much, they were injured more often, and were fatigued quicker. Not to mention the rape component if captured on the battlefield. Would you want to go into battle knowing the girl next to you might be your downfall?

frick this gay earth.
Carter and Obama and all the generals and Admirals who didn't oppose this are scum of the earth and should all commit suicide. I hope their dogs get run over by cars and they get terminal dick cancer.

You obviously have never met a female Marine... They can be be just as hardcore as their male counterparts.
I've met plenty and I'm convinced that their main purpose is to spread disease amongst the male Marines.

The recent female Ranger School graduates come to mind. There is passing Ranger School which has it's minimum requirements and there are the requirements to be in the Regiment which are far more higher. A very, very small percentage of tabbed Rangers make it to that level even though they passed the school. Without lowering the standards it is highly unlikely you see women in the Navy Seals, Special Forces etc. as the article states.

Didn't know that.

I don't see a problem with this. Keep the standards where they are. Allow women who want to qualify for those schools the opportunity to do so. Just don't DQ them ahead of time because they are a girl.

There are dozens of reasons other than their physical limitations to bar them from combat roles. It's inefficient. It will cost billions of dollars to implement. It will reduce the combat effectiveness of the military even if they are physically qualified. Unit discipline and morale will plummet. Most of them will get pregnant before or during deployment to avoid combat. Even the strongest females will be the weakest members of their units.

They can't meet the standard for elite untits. Unless they diminish the standard....

HUGE difference in passing RASP 1&2 (formerly RIP) and passing Ranger school. I know, I went through both, proud member of C co 3/75 01-09

Yeah a huge step up. From minimums to getting 80% or above on each component of the PT test instead of the 60% to pass. Also have to pass airborne school to stay in the bat.

The answer to this is co ed showers like in Starship Troopers.

1000s of women pass airborne school each year. It's probably one of the easiest schools in the military.

A lot of those same arguments were used to block the integration of the military back in the 50's
It will not cost billions to implement nor will it reduce combat effectiveness as long as you keep the training and standards to the same degree as males.
All I'm saying is if a woman can meet the same prerequisites, pass the same tests, and endure the same hardships as their male counterparts then they deserve the opportunity to try.
"Unit Discipline and morale will suffer"..... FRICK THAT! You mean bc some guys are too damn insecure to work alongside a woman, then the woman should be banned? How bout those guys stop acting like little bitches. That very same argument was used to discriminate against AA soldiers

I did RIP (Ranger Indoctrination Program) before going to Ranger school which is the opposite of what most people do unless you are tasked to Ranger Bat by contract. Got my scroll and Beret (Black then) after RIP then headed to Ranger school passed and ended up in 2nd Bat at Lewis. I did option 40 contract which guaranteed me slot at airborne and RIP. You don't make those you go straight infantry.
