Lawyer here with a doctor brother and most of my buddies are in the legal or medical field. Doctors make more money, but have lower quality of lives. Both are equally miserable fricking jobs. Do something else unless you love it or you be miserable. The money will not make you happy.

Yes, and I can point you to thousands of people that spent a grueling 4-8 years beyond undergrad earning a PhD in some area of physical science ( average length of time to earn a physics PhD is now 6 years),

Took me 6 years to get my PhD. Absolutely sucked

Jesus.

I am sick to death of this whining about professional careers. You are a professional for God's sake! It's supposed to be hard.

Where I come from, long haul trucking was an upper end career choice. I am damned lucky to be a professional. I GET to be a lawyer. I GET to work in an air conditioned office. I GET an automatic monopoly from the government that protects my market from competition.

I fully understand that many lawyers and doctors hate their careers. I'm lucky I like mine. But one reason I like it is because I know it sucks a whole lot worse to lay bricks or pound nails for a living. So would all you sniveling arse professionals STFU or change careers?

It is what you make of it. Some in our group work mon to fri. 8 to 5. For the last 2 years i've lived in a different state than my wife. So i've usually worked 7 days a week around 70 hours a week.

Sorry, but that straight up sucks. Life is too short and precious for a schedule and work situation like that.

I love what I do though and understand it to be a means to an end. I may not get paid much, but I get to do a lot of interesting shite where I work.

Doctors apparently think the grass is greener elsewhere. We all do sometimes. We all run into clients that are complete jerks, and professionals of all industries have to follow stupid protocol, and a lot of us get overworked and stressed.

I suggest that these folks either get back to work and provide a valuable service to society, or quit. We all have to move the ball forward one way or another.

Most physicians I know love their job despite the stress and workload some of them have. Make sure to take the time appreciate what you are accomplishing and how you are impacting even the worst patients.....and take time to recharge once and a while.

I enjoy it and the money is better than many make it out to be. I bust arse, but that's fine. I would rather nail playboy bunnies for a living, but last I checked there weren't any degrees available in that field. I've gone through phases were I was miserable, but it wasn't as bad as it seemed. Every time I feel like that, it's usually due to some bullshite that I have no control over. I've learned to take care of my patients, enjoy our interactions, let assholes hit the bricks and the money takes care of it's self. But I really did do it because I wanted to and not just because of the money. And although I graduated with honors from med school, I still went into family practice because that's what I wanted to do. I could give a shite of what specialists think of me. They work for my arse any way so it's not an issue. More docs need a "frick it" attitude and they'd be happier. And I still recommend the field to students that rotate with me.

Wow....10 years of college! I have no college and make 30g's less. I'll be making 175 in another 3-5 years and I don't have to deal with all the system suckers and dead weights of society.

Not bragging. I'm not a baller, just referring to all the schooling to become a dr. And getting mediocre money. I'm sure specialist dr.s make alot more.
