Do Your Views Or Any Of Your Family Members Views Cause Animosity Within The Family

Today was my immediate family's Christmas party, which was at my mom's. It is just me and my two half-siblings (brother & sister) so it is only 13 people. Anyway, I talked about my BIL on here before. He has some insane views. For example, several years ago he told me and my brother he stopped watching the NFL because the players started wearing pink (For breast cancer awareness). He said he didn't care what it was for, grown men should never wear pink.
Most of us are sports fans. It's just automatic, when we get together, whatever sporting event is on we will be watching and with the Saints playing at noon, there is no question the Saints game would be on. Well when my BIL got there, he stayed away from the living room.. Actually he probably stayed outside by himself for most of the time. He is one of these "i protest the NFL because the players disrespected the flag and some players said some bad things about Trump" types, but it was like he was really angry that it was on and he didn't want to be around it and he didn't talk to me and my brother because we were watching it.
Anyone else deals with family members who let their political views get in the way of family gatherings, etc?

Move halfway across the country and only visit once every few years.
Problem solved.

Legitimate point. I like this guy.

My wife's family all shares the same exact views yet every conversation they have sounds like an argument. Lol. I always throw out a few loaded comments to get things rolling. Just take whatever side is not in the ballgame.

Some of my family thinks Bush had no hand in 9/11. So yea. It gets pretty awkward

Not an issue with my family luckily. We are generally conservative with a few liberals, but politics really never come up. It was never discussed or outlawed, it just doesn't come up.
It's nice honestly.

We don't really get into talking politics. When there have been times when an issue comes up and things end up getting really heated so it's best for everyone to avoid talking politics.. It's just that BIL was really angry about being around people watching the NFL.

Some of my in laws are the moronic liberal types that lately have gotten more political and soak in fake arse news like its gospel, somehow ignoring or missing when the lib bullshite is exposed inevitably.

While it was your mom's house and not yours you could have gone to the door he was hanging outside of and given him a glass of water. Locking the door once you closed it is just a little accident.
Is this the BIL that touches your private parts when you are sleeping?

No, but had a count cousin yesterday try to show her nastiness when at the dinner table. Her kid and my brothers kid are a few months apart. My brothers son is quiet and reserved. Her daughter is watched all day by her mother in law who is a retired teacher. She also has our grandmother (great grandmother to our kids) drive an hour and 40 mins to watch her kids.
Anyways, yesterday she said he daughter has a vocabulary or 300 words compared to my brothers son's, five words. I was in shock that someone would even do that, let alone, Christmas Dinner.
I didn't know what to do. I got up, threw my plate away and walked outside in complete disbelief. While this was going on my brother started pounding more beers.
For the record my brother is trashy compared to her liberal arts degree, and she was favored as a grandchild compared to us. I don't care about how we had it, were better people and know what right and wrong is. Also, this bitch has 2 kids and uses fiji water in formula and let's everyone know her parenting, even though her oldest is 2.

Her kids will probably end up being failures because the mom will convince them they are "better" than everyone, but then one day they will have to face reality that they are not as smart as they were taught they were and end up being frickups.

Yeah. Ill take my kids (3 & 7) any day, the way I'm raising the. Didn't feel like ruining dinner or making a scene in front of everyone. I will not be going back to another family event until things change and she publicly apologies to my brother.
Just disgusting. What if something is wrong with my brothers kid? Dear lord, I know she won't ever care, but why say a negative attack when the poor kid can't even defend himself. Fwiw his vocabulary is just fine. He's just a boy, and both his parents are quiet.

They're little kids, dude. No need to wish ill will on them because their mom acted like a cunt at the dinner table once when they were kids. Get a grip.
