Do you work through the soreness after lifting weights after a long break?

Been months and just now trying to get back into it. I did a hard chest workout friday and can't even stretch my arms back at all. Is it okay to do chest again tomorrow? I'm doing the prison workout, chest arms and shoulders only.

Nah I usually wait until most of the soreness is gone before I work those muscle groups again.

Delayed onset muscle soreness is normal after not working out for a while. As long as it isn't injury pain, work through it. The soreness will dissapte with increased blood flow during your warm up sets.

The other night I was doing handstands in yoga and my mats slipped out from under me and my kneecaps hit the mats hard. Underneath the mats is tile floor. I'm in some mild pain. Working upper body tonight and I'll see how it feels in the morning.
Not soreness, but you get the picture. Oh, and yoga helps soreness, imo.

Why don't you workout back or legs?

If it's really sore/not recovered I might lighten up the weight/do less reps but I'll still work it out again. It helps the soreness IMO.

Wait an extra day or two and you'll be good to go. I tried lifting weight when sore and it made it even more sore. Resting is important.

I personally wouldn't work out again until some of the soreness subsides...I think you can get hurt pretty easily while working out if you are really sore...

So you have not worked out in months but want to work out the same muscles in back to back days?

That's the right answer. Abs are about the only thing you can workout everyday.

There's nothing wrong with lifting when you are sore, but you're going to hurt yourself eventually if you don't do any abs or back.

? He worked out Friday. That would give him two rest days between workouts.
But yeah, OP:

is a terrible idea. Without working out complementary muscle groups (i.e. back) you'll develop a rounded posture and forward "hunch" that will cause back problems later on. And also, do legs bro. Everyone needs to deadlift.

If you research anything about opposite acting muscles you'll learn that your chest can only grow so much without lifting your back. Eventually you'll suffer a pulled muscle at the least
But to answer OP's question if your feeling really sore go run. Run just enough to work up a good sweat before you workout. The soreness will greatly diminish

Yeah I read that too. Are you gonna plagiarize the whole thing for us? Do you have any thoughts of your own on this matter? Is that your thing? You come into a forum, you copy some obscure passage and then paste it off as your own idea just to impress some mods and neg my friend? See the sad thing about a guy like you is that in 50 years you're gonna start doing some thinking on your own and you're gonna come up with the fact that there are two certainties in life: One, don't do that. And two, you dropped $150 on some ****in’ Cell Tech which you could have got for $10.50 in generic brand creatine.
