Lol at people who are always “moving with a purpose”. You can always tell those who walk fast and carry things aren’t in charge, nor do they have a strong presence. These people fail rule #1 which is always look good.

I walk slow and methodically. Observing my surroundings and owning the space in which I occupy. If I’m ever in a rush or moving fast, I have lost control of the situation.

I don't carry anything I don't need, including know it all subordinates that think they have a clue as to what I am working on in the moment. You can bet that when Juan and Dexter see me coming with a notepad, those bathroom stalls had better be spotless.

We used to describe these people as "stirring up a lot of dust and noise, but doing little".

Like always carrying papers and walking fast? Or carrying a notebook of blank paper so people always think you're doing something important?

If you’re doing this, your coworkers probably think that you’re unorganized and have poor time management skills.

That is what I notice at LSU football games. Gordy Rush walks with a purpose on the sidelines. It's a sight to see.

I keep a coffee pot in the cabinet next to my desk so I am never seen walking to get coffee.
