Oh yes, I have walked by it and it looks very nice. Don't they serve booze there?

My base fee is $40 which I think is plenty and much more than almost everyone in this thread pays.

My cut is 40 also, which is a lot, but ive never left unhappy in almost 10 years. Its one thing imo that you dont go cheap on

I'm not sure about the booze. Just looked at their website...it's a national chain actually.

If it is $40 for just a cut, and the person rents a station, you don't need to tip too much unless it takes a long time. I fricking wish I would have ever had hair that was worthy of a $40 cut but mine has always been nappy when it gets over 2.5 inches so I spend $18 and leave $25 for a 10 minute cut.

Ya that is the place, they for sure serve booze at the Kierland location....at least when they first opened they did. I guess I have heard of it because I got a great shave there after work when they first opened and they had a super good deal.

its 40 but it includes a shampoo, condition, and a quick scalp massage.

he used to be at a salon, then at a station, and now has his own place. the tip is probably overkill now but ive known him for a long time and he will reschedule and fit me in whenever because our schedules are chaotic right now. getting rescheduled with probably the best guy in the city is worth the $$.

that massage before the cut by the lady is money

I agree, course when I basically post the same thing I get like 50 downvotes

I don't spend money on manicures and pedicures and massages or spa treatments. I don't go shopping for expensive clothes and shoes and purses all the time. I'm frugal about most everything I purchase...except when it comes to maintaining my hair. The reason is that I did go cheap on it in the past...and had a stylist seriously F up my hair in the process. Supposed friend of a friend who said they could highlight my hair in their house for cheap. Yeah HORRIBLE idea. I looked like a more polished meth addict thanks to that experience. Lesson learned.

Had a consultation today for something different.

Normally pay $180 and then $30 tip... but next Tuesday will be $700 + $140 tip. And then $400 upkeep plus tip from now on.

Worth it. I'm getting permanent Virgin hair extensions.

I was about to ask when I saw the $ amount.

ETA: Men really are clueless when it comes to how much time and money are required by some women to keep their hair looking great.

Until I moved away for college I had no idea people actually tipped for haircuts. The 4 nearest barbers that everyone went to all were loners and had their own places. Nobody tips because its essentially paying twice.

Look at your audience.

Plenty of people on this site are paying $10 for someone to basically take a weed eater to their head. They leave knowing it doesnt look good, but probably dont care that much to pay the extra $20 to have it done right and to build a relationship with the person that cuts your hair so they actually care that you dont look like a buffoon leaving the building.

The girl I've gone to the past 8 years took me from blonde to redhead to brunette to back to blonde. All while keeping my hair pretty healthy. That right there is the sign of a good stylist. She earned my trust. There have been a few times that I've had to go to another girl in the salon(my girl only works Saturdays and sometimes my work schedule won't allow to see her then). This other girl was the one to do my hair while my stylist was out on maternity leave and they are best friends.

And even then...I still feel like I'm cheating on my stylist whenever I have to see the other girl

I miss these weird head massages you get after getting a cut, while on deployment

The New Dinar Saloon in Bahrain. 1 Dinar = about $2.50 and you got hot tea, shoulder and head massage, and a cut with just scissors and a straight blade. There was one bastid you had to watch out for though, after the head massage he would grab your head and twist it to crack your neck.

Ive been to two different people the last 8 or so years because my main person was out of town or I was. One was in the same place and I definitely felt like I was cheating lol. It didnt help that the guy destroyed my hair and it looked terrible.

The random lady in Texas was pretty good

If my girlfriend legitimately wanted to spend that kind of money on hair extensions then I would rethink our relationship. What an absolute waste of money. No kidding so many people have credit card debt.

I just changed my hair cutter. She went up to $55 and thats absurd for a 30-40 minute cut.

Actually....hair extensions are typically more expensive than that. Some women pay a couple thousand dollars for hair extensions.

Only emphasizes the point. I do not need to be with anyone that superficial.

Maybe that is closed minded on my part but I see no way that many people in the country can actually afford that kind of hair care expense.

A cup vs C cup > some hair extensions when it comes to the fun factor, imo.
