I am in the cancer diagnostics field and can tell you that there is no conspiracy. I just got back from a yearly meeting in which we discuss people we have lost to cancer. Whole days are devoted to how we are trying to make companion diagnostics to treatments for as many of these diseases as possible.
I take pride in my job knowing i am helping not only those who are afflicted with cancer, but also that I am helping those friends and family who love those patients.
I lost my mom to cancer.

Not very many, just need the patent and you have it locked up. That is typically how these things work.

I will also say that anyone thinking there is "a cure for cancer" is not educated enough to even discuss the topic.
That is unless we harness the ability to stop/start cells from growing.
These are all different diseases that happen because of different stimuli.

a physicist friend of mine is working on an energy project whose byproduct targets and kills cancerous cells. he says the technology has been available for 60 + years.

Aids maybe, not cancer. Wait....Is there a cure for aids? I don't even know. Seems to be irrelevant these days.
