Nah. I’ve been one for 6 months and it feels quite the opposite.

Feel old? No way...

I've been PawPaw for 15 years now. With Grandkids you get to make up new rules that apply only to PawPaw's house, just to piss off your kids that weren't allowed to do the same things.

Got the call at 3:53 am. Lil Slippette weighed in at 8 lbs 9 oz.
That's a keeper!

Congrats!

I'm at 16 months into the first one (with another on the assembly line) and it's been wonderful.

The child already has wonderful taste as I'm the favorite grandparent....

Pick some ridiculous name that you want to be called. It will make you sound younger.

Can't explain it, but it's awesome. Different than having your own. All the joy, but none of the stress knowing you're responsible for the adults that they are going to become.

You are correct.
Since becoming a "Grand Paw", I feel sorry for folks who never had the opportunity to have the experience.
My oldest son had been married for about three years. One mothers day I sent my daughter-in-law a message. "If you weren't barren you could be enjoying mother's day. About three weeks later they visited. She walked in with a big smile and about five months pregnant. I now have four grandchildren.

Having kids makes you start to feel older. But from what I’ve heard having grandkids makes you feel young again. I’m in my late 30s and we have a 1 year old. A little bit of a surprise but seeing my other kids interact with a baby has been awesome. My oldest was great when the second was born. But another 5 years before the third and it was totally different. I’m going to be that dad with a daughter graduating high school and still have an elementary school kid. By the time he graduates I’ll be 55. I felt old going to K5 orientation last year and seeing all these parents doing it the first time. I’m sure I’ll feel like a grandpa when I do it again in a few years and I’m in my mid 40s and there’s some 20 something parents in there.
