Do you take pleasure in the Taxicab industry's decline
However, it doesn't bother me one bit. I'm sure horse shoe fitters had trouble finding jobs after the launch of the Ford Model T.

Yes. From their shitty cars to the shitty service.

I get it if you never use and dont mind paying the money to get home, but I'm not paying $40 to go a mile.
I mean if you are only going a mile, why not just walk?
Usaully, you can just walk a block or two and get out of the surge area

I love it. Cabbies are usually a-holes.
I've had a lot of cabbies take longer routes to try to over charge me.
The accountability of uber and lift make them better
you know if an uber does that and you contact uber they refund you bc they can see the route he took vs the route he should have taken. Happened in miami beach where there's literally 1 street, collins, I started on collins and was supposed to end on collins and the guy decided he would find shortcuts and my estimated rate was $12 and it ended up being $31 bc he took side streets and got lost, I emailed uber and they charged me $12 and refunded the $19.

Uber lowered the rates at the end of last year and a lot of drivers quit. Most of drivers left are retirees, college students, or folks without any other options.

And they are still better than cabbies

I have never used Uber but I would not ride in a Lafayette taxi even if was free.
