I used to separate recyclables. One day I happened to be at home when they picked up the trash and they dumped every container in one truck with all of the other non-recyclables. I now throw it alll in the same trash can.

It all ends up in the same place anyway

Aluminum has the highest rate of recycling, it’s the most valuable. Glass one of the worst because they don’t wash it and reuse it, they crush it and use it like sand in some instances.

Pretty much all recycling has been shown to be a sham, they just trash most or all your shite and skim gov't money while doing it.
A very small amount is recycled. They found away to get the government to pay them to pick up shite that only about 5% gets recycled, which they turn around and sell to some sort of scrap place. But I do think cans and glass are the two things they actually sell for scrap.

About 5 minutes away from the scrap yard so it’s easier to get there than you. I have a 7 year old son that gets excited about recycling cans, because I give him the money we get back. He collects all of our cans and sometimes will remember to ask his uncles to save their cans for him. Big family of functional alcoholics over here.
Just trying to teach him that money doesn’t come free. He collects all the cans, pulls tabs to save for Ronald McDonald house or whatever charity Parkview collects tabs for. Then he crushes them with a pneumatic can crusher I bought him. He says it’s his most favorite toy. We’ve collected about $250 in 2 years, so not great but not terrible and it gives him something to work for.
