My dad used to have loaded guns all over the house when I was a kid. It just wasn't that unusual in the 80's in a fairly rural area like Central. We never touched them without permission but I'm a little more careful with mine. I trust my daughter but not her friends.
My suburban Baton Rouge high school had trucks(mine included) all over the parking lot with gun racks in the rear window filled with shotguns and rifles. And none of the vehicle doors were locked and not a gun was stolen. And no school administrators cared about them.
Lot of rear window rebel flags too.

I’m just looking for some common sense thread control.
High capacity posts should be reserved for those trained with them.

I usually don’t stay around them long.
I will not remain silent around a gun owner who does not know how to handle the firearm, at least from a safety perspective. Pointing it at things that you don’t want to shoot, not dropping the magazine AND checking the chamber when passing it to someone, etc. It’s not a toy, put it away if you can’t handle it safely.

the majority of gun owners are irresponsible
Why do you say this?

A friend of mine was married to a cop. He'd leave his service revolver sitting on the coffee table with his kids (ages 5-10 at the time I remember) and neighbors' kids running in and out of the house.
"They know better than to touch my gun."

Our cheerleader uniforms were one giant rebel flag. It was on pretty much everything at Central Private. We had plenty of guns in vehicles too. It was normal to us. That would elicit 911 calls and swat teams now.

Anecdotal life experiences around a select few dumbasses I suppose.

I didn't see your comment. If it was towards me, don't be a pussy. Post it again.

Come on Pectus. Put that gif back up.
I agree. If anything OweO has is thick skin. And maybe disc brakes.

Think about just how fricking dumb the average person is. Then imagine that half of America is dumber than that. Then imagine those dumbasses owning firearms.

Disagree. Cars are more dangerous than guns and we know how many bad drivers there are out there. I see no reason why gun owners are any different.
Most people just aren't focused enough to be responsible.
I would say that most people who drive, have never been in a wreck that wasn't their fault.. Would you agree with that?

Same here and half my friends had at least one bullet hole somewhere in their house.

Yep. If you got in too much trouble the principal would spank you with a paddle with a Confederate flag carved into it. You'd have stars and bars bruises on your arse

My senior year of HS was the first year they started to enforce the no guns on campus rule. At the time it seemed stupid. People would leave school on Friday and go to the camp, so they would bring their gun. Or just left their gun in their gun rack, in their truck all year around. But more kids today seem to be less mature. And if they would allow it today, there is no telling what jackass would have a gun in his truck, someone pisses him off so he decides to go get his gun and try to target whoever pissed him off.. And whoever else he could shoot in the mean time.

My dad shot the TV out watching Gunsmoke when he was 13. My maw maw used to tell me about it all of the time. He forgot that he had reloaded the gun.
