Do You Know Any Irresponsible Gun Owners?

This is a spin-off thread about the 13 year old and the DA asking the parent of the kid, the 13 year old killed, if they were okay with 5 years probation for the 13 year old. Someone posted something about how their MIL points her gun at people..
Have any of you ever been around an irresponsible gun owner?
When I was in middle school, the kid that lived next to me was 2 or 3 years older than I. We use to play/hang out since we were young. When he got to HS he became friends with this kid who was a complete jackass. He was at my neighbor's house one day, during the summer, when their parents were at work. He went into the parents bedroom and found my neighbor's dad's guns. He come up front pointing at people. Laughing.
That same summer, on the 4th of July, my neighbor was at that guy's house. They were in his room. My neighbor was laying across the bed, with his hand holding his head up, while he was reading a magazine. The friend pulls out a gun from his closet, points it at my neighbor and told him to freeze. My neighbor told him to stop it and the friend told him "it's not loaded". He did it again and BAM.. It was loaded. Hit my neighbor in his face. Having his arm up using his hand to hold up his head actually took a lot of the impact and if it wasn't for his arm where it was, he would have likely died.
It messed up his face and shattered the bones in his wrist. He had to stay in the hospital for about 2 months. He had to go through rehab to learn how to use his wrist and hand again. Had to have multiple surgeries on his face. Ever since, I have never felt comfortable around someone with a gun unless I know they know how to handle it. With that said, I think most gun owners are responsible. Would you agree or disagree with that?

I know a few people who are too comfortable. I used to be. A couch pop into the ceiling changed all that.
Just cleaning a glock and somehow chambered a round with no mag around. Thankfully I followed rule #1. Never point a gun at anything you aren't prepared to lose.

On streets named after Indians, black power leaders, states, and numerals.
Funny...never hear about shootouts in the U Club.

Over the years I’ve hunted with a few people that I’ll never hunt with again. And I’ve heard the “it’s not loaded” line before. I was taught well at the age of about 8 how to handle a weapon and had it drilled into my head all my life. I’ve done the same with my kids.

All of them. That’s why they think they need guns. Got kicked out of karate as a kid because they weren’t responsible and now they’re compensating.

The only way to be irresponsible with a gun is to not own one

My dad used to have loaded guns all over the house when I was a kid. It just wasn't that unusual in the 80's in a fairly rural area like Central. We never touched them without permission but I'm a little more careful with mine. I trust my daughter but not her friends.

Why did someone downvote this?
I think it is something that people can actually learn from.

I wouldn’t need a gun to put you down. That I can tell you.

Me.
From time to time, especially when I'm on the liquor, I put a hot tamale in the cylinder of my 44. Give it a spin and see if I would survive Russian roulette.

My dad shot himself in the leg while cleaning his handgun. I was too young to remember.

Disagree. Cars are more dangerous than guns and we know how many bad drivers there are out there. I see no reason why gun owners are any different.
Most people just aren't focused enough to be responsible.
