But hey there an no Engineers I know who gross $250-300k a year
An engineer I know was making $270K/ yr working an office job for an oil company before he got busted for hiring a cheap hooker (undercover) and lost his job, wife, and house. I had no idea engineers could make that kind of money.

Oil industry we do but takes long time and right moves....for that pay as a technical staff or mid management....senior management does a lot better but you have to really be the right person to get there just like any industry.
Medical do better than this the day the step out of residency...
Doctors get high pay immediately... you are paying for their training and skills and does not matter if one year out or twenty as much as it does in industries where you need promotions to take on more responsibility for increased pay.
Er doctor out of residency will save your life just like a 20 year veteran er doc in most cases...
And doctors earned every penny...that is a long tough journey!!!!

How old was he when he was pulling in that kind of money? Definitely not common, but I know that engineers with 20+ years experience with one of the big players can start pulling 150-200, either with those companies or as a consultant.

Buddy of mine did this. His wife finished medical school, started practicing, and then he went back

Yes, a primary care physician in Lexington. Covers the majority of nursing homes in the area and works mainly with Medicaid/Medicare patient population.
He would probably tell your son to stick with Engieering for the lifestyle and money.

Yeah he was around 50 and had been with them for most if not all of his career.

My wife goes to an eye specialist as does my son. My son is an EE major at UF and he told him that his undergrad is also EE and he decided to be an eye specialist because it was easier.
Those of you who are engineers, you have my respect.

I know 4 from my class. We were in Biological engineering together.

It’s much cooler to get a PhD in a basic science and be an MD. You can be a researcher and have a practice. Engineering isn’t interesting enough to keep doing it with an MD.

“He would probably tell your son to stick with Engieering for the lifestyle and money.“
A few of the Top pay are derm/plastic/ent and most difficult to get into...high pay regular office hours and most desired by applicants...
Others like GI love their jobs...darn good pay...usually reg hours ...and as they say they can typically fix the problem so feel satisfaction at making your life better...
Know an er doc very well... works 130 hours a month ... 10 hour shifts ...like a pilot... can arrange schedule to have a week off or more..
Makes a Lot of money and travels and enjoys life....and when you hand over the er room to the next doc coming on you do not usually have to look back unless something odd and your replacement needs more info from your shift not recorded...
Surgery does very well but more years until they get out of all their residencies... non surgeon but “procedures “ required Like er are next pay categories....then your general physician...which make salary similar to engineers except they will make top eng pay at a much younger age than the engineer..

Quite a few actually. Although most did engineering and went back to school. When I was on the admissions board we would add at least .5 to there grad points on comparing to other candidates

You should be worried thst most of these physicians cannot do a physics problem. Things are becoming a little rote if you ask me.
I’m ok with my doctors focusing their efforts on medicine, actually.

Yes - childhood friend received a degree in ChemE from Tulane and then med school. Actually joined the Air Force out of Tulane and they basically paid for medical school. Been a anesthesiologist for a number of years.
