Do you honk while driving in a tunnel?

I'm visiting Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg and these hillbillies keep laying on the horn while going through a tunnel. At first I thought it was a safety thing, but I doubt the tunnel pictured below requires a horn blast. Does anyone here do this? If so, fricking why?

I didn't vacation with my kids this time and I guess I've never been around tunnels enough. These roads are hard enough to drive on while buzzed. I didn't want to add honking to the equation.

I like to start rubbing one out at the beginning of the tunnel and see if I can finish before the tunnel exit.
