My family actually has formal family meetings.
But it’s not always about serious things. We might call a meeting to plan a family vacation, coordinate holidays or organize a project we want to do on our property.
Not everyone does it that way, but we like our formality. It keeps communication lines open and we have less chaos as a result.

Never did that growing up but we do eat as a family most every night and have our discussions then.
