Guy I saw earlier this week was checking his cellphone while holding up a sign saying he was broke and needed help.

Ever had any run ins with those people?

You must not work near Siegen. I can't leave the office without dodging them with my car.

RWent to the neightborhood walmart a few months ago and was approaached while walking to my car by an older black lady

"Do you know were SI-Gaan lane is?"

You mean siegan? yes its that way

"Do you think I can walk from here to there?"

I wouldnt reccommend it, its a very far walk

"Hmm well I ran out of gas and i left my infant child in the car over there and i need a ride over there, can you give me one?"

Uhh you probably shouldnt have done that, sorry but ive entertained this long enough, ive got to go

----fast forward about a month or so ago, I go into the same walmart real late at night, and whenever i came out rain started POURING down, so I tried to wait out the rain a little bit underneath the walkway and some old lady says something about the rain being crazy and i said yeah

next thing she says "You know how to get to SI-gaaan lane??"

These folks need new material. She tried exact same line on me at Post Office on Bennington. At what point do the stores do something about the harassment?

i just went "youve got to be kidding me lady" and just jogged thru the rain

This is their job. You have a job and so do they.

A friend of mine in college was the master of this. Stops them in their tracks with a WTF look on their face. Priceless.

Heres a pro tip. If you stop giving them cash, they will find a better paying profession.

Several years back, in downtown BR, I had a dude give me the sob story about how he just got out of jail with only the shoes on his feet.

About a month later, same guy, same EXACT story.

The second time I had forgotten something at the office so I had to walk back from the parking lot. Saw him getting into his car corner of North and 3rd.

The OT famous Pop A Lock guy tried to hit me up at out St. Pats tailgate last year. I called him out loudly, we were already pretty drunk, and then I followed him down Perkins telling people not to give him money and that he was a.scammer. He finally ran away from me. It was oddly satisfying. Power of the OT.

I pulled over at a Wal-Mart in Lafayette once because I had to go in and pee. Dude approached me in the parking lot and said he and his family were stranded and could he have some money for "some food and a little bit of gas".

I told him I don't have cash, and he said - "it's OK, there's an ATM inside". That kind of pissed me off. So I kind of just abruptly said - "nah man sorry" and walked away.

I ended up seeing a post shared all over Facebook the next few days with his picture and people saying - watch out for this guy at the grocery stores you go to, he's trying to con money out of you.

I was in San Diego this past summer. Wife and I were leaving a baseball game and saw this homeless couple arguing. When we walked by, he was pissed at her for talking on the phone while he was begging. I laughed.

Had a guy try to hustle me once. Said he needed money bc he was hungry. I have him the leftover half of a personal pan pizza I'd had for lunch. He looked at and then asked for money instead. I just left. Since that day I just tell them no or ignore them altogether

All the time.

Work in ERs and live(d) in Houston and Katy.

Some have homes or little shitty apartments and vehicles. Otherwise the game is this. Make enough $$$ to buy your vice. Liquor or drugs and a meal. A great day is enough cash for a room and liquor or drugs. If they can get a room, they can get a woman to stay with them. The woman pays for the room by fricking the guy.

Others are a pair man and woman. Those cases are usually just trying to get enough cash for a shitty room and get drunk and high for the night.
