re: Do you get roaches in your house or is that trashy?

I've lived for the last 20 years in an almost 50 year old house. I've seen maybe 5 in my house in all that time and it's been quite a while.
I have it treated monthly. For the past few years the treatment is applied outside only.
Roaches can be controlled.
My house stays clean.
We don't eat all over the place and we clean up after ourselves constantly.
That makes a difference.
Just remember that one roach can live one year off of one grain of sugar.

It depends. If it's the big, brown tree roaches, you're fine. It happens. If it's a bunch of little roaches scurrying around the house, you are trashy.

I lived in South LA and despised the flying ones like people hate spiders and snakes. I now live in the jungle that is SW FL (I found 2 gators in my backyard yesterday) and haven't seen a flying roach in 3 years.
Those frickers were sneaky. Hang out over the door hang to the kitchen, then they would just vanish, so glad I don't see them anymore.

It's borderline impossible to stop in older houses. I get a couple every now and then, but the older gentleman who lives near me dumps food out for the cats, which really brings them out :(

Live in uptown New Orleans, no roaches in our house.

I live in SW Colorado. I havent seen a roach in like 6 years

As people have said, the little ones mean trashy, the large ones every so often are normal here. A raised old, not older home is built differently than newer ones which allows more access to them.

As wet as it has been it brings them higher and inside. Left my windows open in my truck last week in the garage. Next evening wife got in the front seat with a freshly baked cake to run across the neighborhood- heard her mildly upset and bail out. Big black roach on the passenger visor.
Well at least it didn't run across the dash while I was driving.

Agree, that would have triggered me.

When I lived in Naples, we didn't have roaches either, but the sugar ants were good at getting into the house.

Harris Roach Tablets. Sprinkle in attic, around foundation of house outside and in cabinets and under appliances. One week, no roaches.
I live on the Northshore and haven't seen a roach in my house in 10 years and even back then it was a smaller species.

This thread made me look around my room.

The occasional big one but my house is pretty much one big film of pesticide.
I have a psychological terror of roaches. It's really sad how I scream like a girl and run when I see one.
A giant Godzilla King Kong cockroach fell on my head at 3am last night. Then crawled over to my wife's hair who then flung it into the air. It flew with that loud flapping noise only one of those demons can make to the floor across the room then started scurrying towards the dresser.
I smashed it with a shoe just in time and it's guts splattered all around it. I dry heaved a few times and made my wife clean it up.
frick those things. Goddamnit.

We get scorpions. That BLOWS ! Especially when my kid was an infant and toddler.
When I first moved to AZ I was shaking out my shoes frequently cause I was terrified of scorpions.
Been in AZ 12 years....never seen a live one in any apartment or house I've lived in out here. Never even seen them out hiking.
You even been stung by one? I've heard it hurts pretty bad but isn't serious if you are an otherwise healthy adult. I know the anascorp is VERY expensive.

Asking if something is trashy is trashy. This needs to fade off into the sunset. It's had a good run

Keeping them around is trashy, getting them in the first place not so much.

Funny, I just saw one last night. I was at a party in a 5-10 year old house in a really nice area and a roach appeared inside. It happens

My house is about a year old. I saw a big brwn roach in my empty kitchen sink 2 mornings ago.
I poured water on it and turned on the garbage disposal. I did feel guilty afterward.

I work for an offshore filtration company and we have tons of DE. What does DE do to roaches? I'm sure it poisons them but please explain.
