there is a better way to discipline a child than causing bruises

Absolutely there is. There's a place for spanking, but it should be a last resort. And leaving bruises is going overboard. The sound of a spanking is enough for a little kid to get the point.

Could not care less. I've seen how pathetic you have been on here before. It's a message board. No big deal to have a little fun sometimes. I didn't do it for your approval.

It always seemed to me good trolling is convincing people you're serious when you're saying something so ridiculous that everyone should know you're full of shite.

Considering there are plenty of people who actually believe that any spanking at all is child abuse, what's so ridiculous about you claiming to believe it? What did you say that was so crazy no one should have believed you but did anyway? What you did wasn't trolling, it was just lying.

Anytime you have to beat/whip/spank a child it is child abuse. There is no reason to ever have to do it if you have done a good job as a parent from day 1.

Ya, another way to show the kid's that nothing is their fault. Why hold the children accountable for anything right? Example.. your kid is hanging out with other kids who steal from a music store... your kid wants to fit in and steal something too. Is it the kid's fault or the parent's fault? Let's take away ALL accountability from the child. Nothing is ever their fault right?

After reading more of this thread. This guy is an adult who acts like a 14 year old trolling shite on the internet. Grow up and act like an adult.

It doesn't truly hurt them but it scares them a little and gets their attention. Now spanking to truly hurt, or doing it to older children is pretty dumb with what we know now

I totally agree with the first parts of this. It's the what we know part that I have a hard time believing. Spankings have been around since the beginning of time. Not spanking has been around say 20 years. Without even comparing the change in our youths how does one come to the conclusion that we know something with such little time to compare the two? I'm not advocating beating children or whipping them with things other than your hand or belt, let me say that. But for someone to tell me that it's shown to be not affective after a half of a generation, who keep in mind is arguably the most in titled lazy undisciplined group of youth in our history. That just puzzles.me greatly and makes.me wonder what else they could be selling you?.

My grandmother used to whip me with a thick old school leather belt. When I got tough enough and said that didn't hurt she hit me with the big arse fishing rodeo buckle end. I got right real fast.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. That's why I mentioned the trophy society earlier. It really does go hand-in-hand. Now, beating the shite out of someone, whether they are young or older is one thing, but spanking in a disciplinarian way is another altogether. This touchy-feely, political correct, can't hurt anyone's feelings BS attitude that is out there now is ridiculous.

And yes I know I've stirred some shite on here, but I can take the backlash.

When we were kids we all wanted Hot Wheels and the track.

Then our Mommas figured out what else it was good for.

Talk about light up your happy arse.

Did anyone post the law yet?

In LA I think it's child abuse when you use any sort of object to hit a kid, and also above the waiSt with a hand.

Yes - anything but a light open palm hit to the rear is dubious.

I'm not using it as an excuse, but people are acting like it's unheard of for children to be spanked with an assortment of household items which it's not.

Of course we are. I was having a little fun with everyone, and laughing at the venom they were spitting. No hard feelings, hopefully.

I coach 3-4 year old soccer right now. Although it can get frustrating, it's a blast.
