I tend to believe that good deeds are rewarded with good deeds. What say the rant?

For some reason I do despite being utterly non-religious.

I do not believe in karma as a philosophical or religious truth. However, people that are kind towards others tend to be rewarded with kindness. But I do not believe your kindness is a former life affects this life, nor that your actions in this life affect future lives.

I believe there are consequences, both good and bad, attached to decisions we make. When we choose to do good, good things can happen. When we make bad choices, bad things will happen. May take a while, but I believe it catches up to us.

You can believe in karma and not believe in religion.
To op: I have faith but I don't necessarily believe in karma in a sense that all good deeds are each rewarded, I believe in the biggest reward of all from a result of good deeds.

I somewhat believe in karma, but its one sided for me a lot of the time. I feel like any bad thing I do- always comes back to haunt me. But when I do good things.. sometimes shitty things still happen to me.

That's not really what karma is though.
The most basic way to describe it is Karma has to do w/what kind of life you will get when you are reincarnated after death. The idea in Hinduism and Buddhism is that all of your deeds in this life plus all you deeds in past lives all add up and determine what happens to you when you die and are reincarnated. If you were a real POS in this life, you'll be born worse off next time. If you are really good, your next life should be better than the current one. The better you are though all your lives, the better your future lives will be.
There are many different schools of thought on it however and they don't all give it the same level of importance.

No. Good things happen to bad people. Bad things happen to good people. Nothing "comes back around." There is no justice.

I agree with this.

Disagree with this.

Not in the spiritual sense
But in the sense that people recognize other good people and treat them well
Good things often happen to people who do a lot of good things

I use to
I'm a good person but nothing good ever happens to me.

I frequently wonder if that's a big draw to Christianity. That there may be some final justice in the end. That you can be rewarded in the next life for the good you did here. Or that the evil finally get what they deserve in hell. Because that's not how things work on earth.
