This is what it should be. School starts middle of August. Get out Labor Day. Mini fall break in middle of October (pd on Friday for teachers, everyone off Monday). Thanksgiving break W-F. Christmas break Dec 23-2. Maddie Gras break M-W. Spring break. Get out of school for summer last week of April, beginning of May.

Why not just give one whole day off?

Schools have a minimum amount of instruction days. Each instruction day has a minimum number of hours.

So in school day math 2 half days equals 2 days whereas 1 full day equals one day.

At some point teachers and students need a break from each other.

Putting up with those little bastards can be a pain in the arse afterwhile.

Also. In addition to all of the administrative paperwork, a teacher is normally dealing with kids at different stages of development in the same classroom at the same time.

Also, let's not forget about the parents who think their kids are perfect and do no wrong. .

We have so many religions and religious holidays in India. Kids are off most of the time. On top of that, they have strikes, which shuts down the transport.
