I was in three fights during middle school. One suspension. The other two were broken up with no consequences.

My son is a sophomore in HS and he’s never been in a fight. Neither have his two closest friends.

Granted, his middle and high schools are better than mine were, but in general, it just doesn’t seem like a thing kids do anymore. In this school cluster, a fist fight is pretty much auto-expulsion.

it's pretty trashy but to be somewhat expected of the kids discovering testosterone and trying to be the alpha, times have changed though, we had a couple of coaches, and teachers, that would get boxing gloves out if a couple of kids got into it and let them finish it up

A friend of mine made it to 24 without ever throwing a punch in his life, so naturally we boxed. I broke his ribs; it was a great time

It's more than expulsion. The police are called and charges are filed.

Knowing you can cash the checks you write even as an adult is what makes things happen.

uh, no, once you get out of grade school and you still feel the need to "cash your checks," is about the most feeble minded and trashy thing that could be

It depends here. If the school resource officer can’t deal with it/break it up, there are bad injuries or it’s a multi-kid brawl, the AP will often call the sheriff’s office.

But, again, it happens so infrequently here that there aren’t any hard and fast rules that I’m aware of (as a parent).

Fights happen all the time at the local public schools. Mostly girls. Hair pieces flying all over the place.

My 17 yo stepson has never been in a fight. Of course he is intimidating at 6’ 3” & 225 lbs.

I had a few fights, but mostly got along with kids. I think a common pattern of fighting is probably a bad thing. People should cooperate or learn to cooperate.

The consequences of fighting at school are too great these days. I know one young man who got in a fight at school was arrested and lost an ROTC scholarship. Whether he was at fault or not, he lost.
