I think they get a kickback from the endodontist.

He probably doesn’t have the technology to see if the fracture goes all the way through the root. And if he doesn’t, you don’t want him doing the root canal on you.

For a molar, I’ll take the endodontist dealing with that any day over a general dentist. My endo did a root canal on a molar in less than 30 minutes. It was glorious.

New dentist. I went for a 2nd opinion on my tooth pain, he said jt was a slight crack and yanked that bitch out the same day.

Character building pain rating:
Lowest numerical rating is the worst

1 dental pain. It’s great for counteracting any pleasure you’ve. I learned long ago that delaying dental treatment isn’t worth the pain that will come later.

2 ear ache. Brutal excellent for repayment of any joy you’ve ever had. Almost as good as tooth ache pain.

3 lower back, hip and foot pain. They’re sensational for removing fun at events such as walking in the park , going to a theme park or shopping for something you actually want like a new truck, power tools, hifi gear etc.

Sarcasm mode switched to off.

Stacking tylenol and advil is very effective for tooth pain. Don't do it long term, it will tear up your liver but I risk it short term. I don't exceed the daily recommended values of each but I sure do go higher than the dose for breakthrough.

Back in the day barbers were dentists too. And they just pulled the teeth. And whiskey was the anasthetic. It's not the pussification of dentistry. It's the pussification of society. You included. Otherwise go see a barber with a pair of pliers and bottle of whiskey.

I've had an accessed tooth before. I would rather get hit by a car before going through that again. It stole uo and looked like I had a golf ball in my mouth.

Dental pain sucks. Had a root canal a couple weeks ago that I was looking forward to more than I did Christmas when I was a kid. Just got my permanent crown on today.

Orajel was a life saver

The main reason is because Endodontists are specialized. They have more specific equipment (expensive and precise) and they do those types of treatments all day long. Same reason your general doctor doesn't do foot/hand/organ/etc. surgeries. And if the general dentist is getting a kickback, that is a VERY rare thing. Never heard of that.

I just found out our dentist will sedate and pull wisdom teeth for my 15 year old. I was ecstatic to not have to call around and make another damn appointment. Seeing the $500 anesthesia estimate was a little shocking though…surely there’s a cheaper way???

I think my dentist does. I saw him in the liquor store buying a bottle of Wild Turkey.

Why should a guy/woman who fills cavities and does root canals, and make good money, worry about complicated oral surgery when they can refer to OMFS, Endodontists, and Periodontists

beg my way into the dentist this morning. He does his thing and says I have a badly cracked molar. He is sending me to an endodontist to determine whether the tooth can be saved. This will take time, more pain, and another appointment. If it can be saved, he'll do root canal. If it can't, I will then be sent to an oral surgeon who will extract the tooth on some even further distant TBD date. frick dental pain, man.

My wife is going through the same shite right now. Went to the dentist and they cat scanned her head and still couldn’t determine how bad the break was. Had her endodontist appointment today. Still nothing done except a script for antibiotics. It’s ridiculous.

And of course the scan wasn’t covered by insurance so that was $500 out of pocket from jump before anything has even been done.

My dentist was/is an army dentist. He can fix anything, or pull any tooth.

just because he's "licensed" to do it doesn't mean he's the one you want doing it
