Do Black Churches Have a Thing Against AC?

Watching the Emanuel Church service on CNN. Everybody is waving those fans. Preacher is sweating up a storm.
When I got to thinking about it, I've never been to a black church that had AC.
Is there a reason for this? Serious question. I know it can't be a money thing. Is there some thought about not being too comfortable in church?

Well, I admit to not going in about ten year, but I haven't been to ANY church in that time. That whole not believing in God thing kinda keeps me away, but I used to visit "sister" churches in high school and I've been to plenty of weddings, christenings, etc in black churches. Don't recall any having AC. Could have missed it though.

People are usually more active during services than in many white churches (standing up and shouting in praise, singing along and clapping, etc).

You brought the devil into God's house.
Should be obvious why you were hot.

This was a serious question though. Religious sects have all kinds of weird rules regarding services. Church of Christ doesn't allow organs or musical accompaniment in services.
I wasn't sure if historically black churches (Baptists and Evangelicals) had something prohibiting AC in the church.
If that's not the case, Cool.

I just left 6th baptist on Annunciation, we have to bring light sweaters for the lil ones when we go to church.

I'm sure cooling a large room with a hundred people of any color is a strain on most A/C units.

I had a black friend growing up, as a kid. His parents wouldn't turn the ac on until 7pm, even during the summer. It was literally cooler outside than inside his house. I never understood if that was a "black" thing or if his parents were just cheap frickers. My dad told me that they probably just wanted to keep random kids out of their house.

Not sure about this one in particular but many were built before A/C was popular
