I'm sure you wear your "I almost joined but couldn't because of ..." medal proudly and almost stand when they ask if there are any veterans in the house, and you almost get that military discount on Veteran's Day...almost the same huh...nah.

what? I had zero interest in serving. Closest I got was being offered a position in the DoD (DoW I guess now) at Warner Robins working in the electronic warfare department. They paid shite compared to my other offers. You guys don't pay enough, sorry.

Funny you should say something about discounts, I'm sure you actively track those to make sure you get every free thing you can. Get mad when you don't get thanked for your service too.

Oh a little touchy are we, guess I was trying to give it the joke back to you.

Ah, go back to sitting on arse if you can't take a joke from a civilian. We always ragged on the retired Navy guys in the nuke industry and they gave it back as good as we did it to them. As long as it is good natured ribbing, it's a you problem.

You should go back to sitting on your arse as it appears you can't take a joke from a military man...

Say "Was a Marine" to almost all Marines and you will likely be told "Once a Marine, always a Marine".

I have several friends who served in the Marines and they all feel that way.

Was deployed to UAE while in the Air Force. The Army personnel on base considered it a vacation.

My Navy BIL deployed to Bahrain one time and his housing was a suite in a four star hotel. I am not making this up.

The only other thing I have to contribute to this thread is the Space Force dress uniforms are goofy as frick.

Not sure who the two f*ck sticks are that downvoted me. Most likely Marines or civillians.

Probably the gulf hotel. Our plane “broke” down on the way to Oman and we were forced to stay there because there were no quarters on Bahrain.
