I thought the Chair Force jokes were hyperbole, until I started working with the Air Force SATCOM guys on Rammstein, and they introduced me to their fricking golf course and mall.
Their SATCOM gear was even better than my lowest bidder Army STTs and Phoenix terminals.

USAF here and I enjoy the ribbing both from vets and from civilians. It's typically not a lack of respect, just busting chops.

I am all for banter between people who have actually served. My problem is with people who have never worn the uniform feeling entitled to put down on different branches. Not just Navy, all branches for whatever reason.

Because it’s a joke and not to be taken seriously. When bullets start flying, the men in the branches will work together as one military and treat each other with respect.

I remember in the ROTC building at LSU, the bathroom had three urinals. On the floor in front of the urinals were three bumper stickers - Army, Air Force, and Navy. They were placed on the spot where a member of said branch should be able to stand and piss into the urinal (and apparent size of their junk). The Army sticker was about ten feet back. The Air Force sticker was about three feet back. The Navy one was under the urinal.

TYFYS, but jokes about the branches of service have been around long before you took the oath. Bob Hope brought a lot of joy with them with his Christmas tours around the world. Not a soul was offended.
