re: Disney to have first gay cartoon characterPosted by Korkstand on 2/22/20 at 12:08 pm to Turbeauxdog

While you're at it, can you find a study comparing outcomes for children of households where a gay man married and had children with a woman for fear of being shunned by family and society vs. outcomes for children of adoptive gay parents who otherwise would have had no parents?
Why? Because in your view, in both of those cases a gay man is responsible for the destruction of the nuclear family?

No, but what’s that have to do with your conduct?

I feel empathy for that man, but without knowing what caused him to be gay, how can we pass blame?

No, but what’s that have to do with your conduct?
I feel that, as an American, it's my duty to fight for everyone's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In this case, that means arguing with bigots on the internet.

I feel like I’ve been very clear on what your conduct is.
My point there being it has nothing to do with “calling a spade a spade”

I’ve heard no one argue otherwise so seems you’re wasting your time.

Also obvious is that society, and people like you, caused him to create and then "destroy" a nuclear family.
Don't you think a happy citizen who feels accepted is as beneficial to society and the economy as the rather arbitrary requirement that one parent has a penis and the other a vagina? Because that's what the nuclear family argument really boils down to. Caring for, nurturing, and accepting people from childhood through adulthood. Providing a stable and loving environment for kids to develop into productive adults.

Being gay is a choice you make. Just like claiming gender fluidity and being trans and any of the other decisions you make in your life.

Being gay is a choice you make.
Personally, I could not ever make the "choice" to be gay. I'm just too far to the straight end of the scale. But that is the reason that I understand that there must be a sliding scale of sexuality. Obviously, gay people exist, so they must be at the other end of the scale.
Then there are those who think that being gay is a "choice", and they must be somewhere in the middle of the scale since they feel that there is a choice to be made.
Not knocking anyone, we're all a little different and I respect you all the same.
I'm just saying that if you're in that middle ground of bisexuality where you feel that it's a choice to make, just own it and stop fighting against what someone has told you is "wrong" or "abnormal".

So roommate hummers were fair game?

No roommate hummers. That was the point I was trying to make... if you say being gay isn't about sex, what is it about? If you want to live with a man, attend musical theater with a man, bring a mantastic man home to your parents, etc., you can, and you won't be gay unless you have sex with him. So the old "it's not about sex you wackjob" argument that Kaare Johnson makes over and over again (as is his wont) just doesn't make sense to me.
quote:It's about being attracted to the same sex.
if you say being gay isn't about sex, what is it about?
quote:That's a pretty strange way to look at it. Are you undetermined until you are no longer a virgin?
you won't be gay unless you have sex with him.

What is your political lean? Libertarian or liberal democrat? You certainly don't sound conservative. Do you attend any church services on a regular basis? If so what denomination?
Just curious.

Why you scared ? Are you having them thoughts again?
re: Disney to have first gay cartoon characterPosted by OweO on 2/22/20 at 2:21 pm to GeorgePaton
quote:
First of all my traditional view on things flow from my religious beliefs but you already know that. You can accuse me of bigotry till hell freezes over, but I oppose homosexuality because the lifestyle is disordered...profoundly so. It is not normal, it is abnormal.
How is the lifestyle disordered? What do you mean it isn't normal? No one decides to be gay, but are you saying that although they are gay you think they should live as they are not? That would be like making someone who is straight live as if they are gay.
The beginning stage of life starts as a female. Then in the early stage of pregnancy the fetus will either stay XX or become XY. Some people can physically develop one way, but the hormonal process can develop opposite of the physical state (to put it simple).
Who are you to judge someone or say how people should live their life? If you are a religious man, were you taught to not judge?
And so you think people should/should not live a certain why just because you don't understand why people are the way they are?
quote:
Absolutely, your brazen gay lifestyle clashes with my traditional values. I like my traditional values, I don't like your disordered values.
Your traditional values are out of touch and it is pretty fricking arrogant to think that the world should live by your values.
By the way.. If your grandkids do happen to see two men kiss in public what will happen to them? What are you hiding them from?
Being straight doesn't make you any better than someone who is gay. Everyone has the same rights, but not everyone has the same morals.. You morals are not "the right way". No one cares how you think others should live.
