Let's go with being gay is an "abnormality" for argument's sake.

Let's say that a man and a woman get married, but it turns out that the woman has an abnormality that prevents her from having children of her own, so they adopt. Is this a nuclear family?

Just so we're clear, your view is that it is not the ability to procreate, or the ability to provide a stable and loving home in order to raise happy and healthy children to be productive adults, or any of the other qualities that make "nuclear families" a great positive economic driver.
