I too have heard these rumors and sure it's a long way down the road. We'll all be dead I'm sure.

Disney is always purchasing land. They are in a deal near completion with Orange Beach Al with marina complex/condos. I dont think LA is getting its own space mountain just yet. I would bet on a sports complex of some type.

I worked for Disney during college. This project doesn't seem to go along with their business model at all.

1) Disney's philosophy is creating destinations where they can keep extending your stay. They don't want you to make a 2 day trip to just the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. They want you to spend 6 or 7 days. They have accomplished this in the Orlando market. Folks are able to make a 1-2 day drive from as far as Texas to Ohio to PA and the money they save from the airfare they extend their trip with the mouse.

Livingston parish would only be a one day trip for at least 4 years. If they wanted to make it a multiple day destination it would cause an impact to their Orlando traffic. People like to see the newest things.

2) Their next destination and the company's next big capital projects will be in India. That market is very hungry for a Theme Park. It's economy is growing so fast. Disney's Hong Kong project has been a huge success. There were high level plans mentioned on back of house collateral inside the corporate offices of development in India and Aussie Land.

3) I want someone to show me a link to the real estate public record. This sounds like rumors being passed around to gullible Livingston Parish folks to make them go on a land buying run.

Disney World was originally to be built in Livingston but Louisiana didn't want to include tax breaks.

That urban legend is still living I see. Originally I heard Robert just outside of Hammond b/c it's where I55 and I12 intersect. Now Livingston huh?

Livingson Parish is in the southeastern part of Louisiana. It neighbors Baton Rouge and is just northwest of New Orleans. I was recently told by several people that Disney has bought land here. I just thought that the rumor mill was turning again. I knew that Walt Disney World was originally supposed to be built here, but politics had run it out of town. Then I ran into a relative of mine who is high in the Parish government, and he told me about it. He said that Disney had bought 1900 acres and that they were purchasing more which would make the enitre property 5000 acres. I thought he was joking but he told me that he had been with represenatives of the Disney Company scouting land. I was amazed by this. Then I ran into one of the first people who had told me about it and I shared with them the information that I knew and he told me that some people in his church own a real estate company and that they had brought copies of the check that said, The Walt Disney Company, to church to give a percent of it and to show pople that Disney really did buy land in our area. They wouldn't tell where the land was because Disney was buying more. That brought me back to my realtive whom I asked why the news hadn't broke. He told me that because they were purchasing more land, the news was being held back so that land prices won't skyrocket like they did in Florida after the news broke there. He wouldn't tell me where the land was either. He did tell me that the news was supposed to break sometime within the next few weeks. He just didn't know when. I am curious about the project because of what kind of themeing it could have. It will be interesting to see what happens. Any more info I recieve I will post here.

I was told Disney is closing on the property in Livingston Parish tomorrow. A friend of mine told me they heard it and I called my buddy again (the one in the parish government) and he said that it was true. This is a close friend of mine and he still couldn't tell me where. I hope this is all true. If it does happen tomorrow I wonder if we'll see something published locally. Anyway I'll feed more information if I get it.

The rumors started in October and every month they begin to pick up steam. Several development message boards in the South as well as Disney have really been on fire in the past week about this proposal.

Most likely it will be:

A) Sports Complex - with a smaller water park
B) Film / Movie Studio complex
C) Major Water Park

they were "in negotiations" with a lot of places. It was a negotiating tactic. It was always going to be in Orlando.
