Pretty sure this is from Dafoe's, Journal of the Plague Year. It's a good book, filled with a lot of "man, I am glad I don't live in the 17th century" moments.

Yeah, it makes me scond guess those "I wish I had a time machine" moments just to see random dates in time. My luck, I'd get the cramp guts or whatever and die there.
