i've owned a sonata for a bit. it was an ok car. I felt like it was burning oil a bit before it got sold.

The k5 is is replament and supposedly better.
Where are you getting that the K5 is the Stinger's replacement? They are two different models with two different price ranges.

stinger is pretty sexy. its a bit out my range of what i'm looking for.
Stinger always makes me look twice when I see them.

It's smooth as butter, has great interior, and a lane assist feature that legit allows you to drive on the interstate w/o holding the wheel, even if turning.
when i was driving back home after picking it up as the rental (it died while i was traveling for work in Tyler, TX) the lane assist was on and i started trying to exit around Athens, TX and that MF kept me in my lane, hard.
my escape has a gentle nudge for lane assist, but the k5 was really good.

My wife has a white Stinger GT2 and that thing hauls arse. i tried convincing her to go with the K5 but once I test drove the Stinger it was a no brainer.

It’s actually refreshing to see a new CAR! Ever since Kia/Hyundai hired the old Audi design chief, their vehicle designs are some of the best. K5 is a nice, moderately priced, good-looking car. I really like the idea of having a Stinger too.

looking at a 10-12k price difference at least huh?

Drove one a year ago as a rental in CA. Fun car, and I am not much of a car person. I remember during the week I drove it, looking up how much it cost and it seemed really fair.
Kia/Hyundai followed the same model set forth by the Japanese imports that came before them. Make an inexpensive, fuel efficient car to enter the market, once a reputation has been established, start increasing quality and price.

Same with Hyundai. Best value, best warranty and really solid power trains.
How are the CVT transmissions though? Seems like most reports are that Toyota is the only one that has that technology nailed down.

Was a rattle trap. Rode in a friend's a few times and he said it was constant. Little squeaks and rattles all over the place. Little road noise dampening as well.

It was high as giraffe pussy. I don't remember what we paid. She has had a rough 3-4 years health wise and wanted a new car. She had a 13 year old Pathfinder and really wanted the Stinger so I said frick it and let her buy it. I want to say we ended up paying 55k for it but not for sure.

I don't get the Kia bashing in present day
I don't know about here, but on a number of automotive forums I've visited, it seems to center around their excessive number of catastrophic engine failures/fires that span a number of recent models. That said, they all seem to be linked back to one engine type, the 2.4L Theta. People conveniently forget that Toyota had the issue of its cars self-accelerating which was kinda a big deal, too.
