No man, it’s not about being cheap, it’s about the fricking guest host code.

but maybe a 200 dinner hurts them.
Then you don’t host. And if everyone is low on income, you specifically call it a potluck.
I had a brunch for my friends last week that was probably $700 all said and done.
Hosting a NYE party that usually costs us $1500 between food and fireworks. Worth it because we love our friends.

Send him an invoice for the dinners he has had at your expense

Did it happen? No
It did not.

30 bucks?? You serious, Clark?

Reminds me of the batchelor cook outs where I’ve been asked to bring my own steak, potatoe, beer etc.

Which is what I said. Discreetly offering to help out is neither insulting nor rude. He can turn it down or graciously accept. I kind of differentiate between hosting a family gathering and hosting a party of friends.

Yea, that sounds trashy, but you can totally show him up in that situation and make him look like a poor by immediately whipping out the cash like it’s nothing, and not complaining about it.

I could see 20 year olds doing a “Friendsgiving” doing that
This is pathetic

Next time you get an invite from him, tell him you can't afford eating at his cafe.

The OT calls wayyy too much stuff trashy but that is trashy.
Posted on 12/9/20 at 6:58 pm to Skippy1013
Should've given him $100 and said you were sorry that you didn't know they were in such financial trouble and to ask you for more if they have trouble paying any other bills in the future.

my wife says to forget it.
Just listen to her
No. Don't forget it. Don't bring it up either. File that away in the memory bank for the next time you host.

Id have asked for money to cover the wine and desserts that I brought to his shitty thanksgiving.

Friendsgiving is a pot luck. Everyone brings their favorite whatever. Those with the means buy the meats. Those with the means who cheap out are looked at with pity.
