Aspartame has been banned in Japan since the 70's. It's greedy corporations in the US that keep it legal....consumers health be damned.

I'm always skeptical of these types of studies. I get that it's hard to do this reseach within an experimental design, but it relies on self-reported behaviors, and the behaviors themsleves may be related to the accuracy of their self-reports. In other words, measurement error can be compounded by more error.
I'm particularly skeptical because they also found this:

Surprisingly, though, the research also contradicted previous studies by finding that sugared drinks did not raise the risk of either serious outcome.

If you can't use quantifiable statistical measure and have to rely on descriptive studies or correlation based then it's crap

But the larger manufacturer of aspartame is Ajinomoto Japanese company. So it would seem odd that a country which bans it, also allows a company to produce it. I also can't find anything that supports that it's banned Japan.
I think you're incorrect about the ban.

Dihydrogen monoxide has been found in 100% of malignant tumors.

quote:I disagree that the correlation data is crap since that's the only way to realistically study many phenomenon. Of course it does have major drawbacks in interpretations (specifically causal), which makes experimental studies preferable.
If you can't use quantifiable statistical measure and have to rely on descriptive studies or correlation based then it's crap
HOWEVER, if the data is also suspect and prone to more error, then those drawbacks are exacerbated. In this case, correctional study drawbacks + questionable data = extremely flawed research.

Never been a Coke drinker, but damn I'll grab a Sprite zero cherry if I see one somewhere.

Anyone buy Zevia soft drinks? I used to drink a ton of Diet Coke/Coke Zero, but switched to Zevia last year.
Zevia uses stevia as a zero calorie sweetener which is natural and all ingredients are non gmo.
