what if they break down mid-route? I see them break down and being towed, do they tow them to wash them? I honestly have no clue but am interested
So the trucks run when I am not there. From 2isham till 3pm. If a truck breaks down mid route, there is a road squad working the day shift for that. Every now and again a truck has to be towed back to the shop and fixed while loaded with garbage, but from what I understand this doesn't happen often and only in emergencies

I got an offer for a job as a diesel mechanic for one of the big garbage companies in BR. Is it as bad as it sounds? Or should I take the job? Money is going to be nice
You won't be bitching about wearing a mask.

yea. hourly pay with lots of overtime. working second shift 4pm-till
8 hour shifts? frick that. Then again, I guess you can get some experience, and then maybe get an Ops job at one of the many plants in the area (if that's a goal of yours).
Once you land an operator job, and get to two year pay, you can afford a diesel pickup with gold plated truck nuts.

If it's one of the two big ones in BR, they are both Fortune 400 organizations with Fortune 400 benefits too.
Medical, dental, vision, company matching 401(K), paid holidays, and on down the line.
I hope whatever you choose works out for you.

Hope this is a bad pun because a man trying to get a job is admirable nowadays. I wish the OP luck and I hope he is able to provide for his family
Amen brotha.
OP, I was a consultant for a waste company doing lean transformation. In my interview process the mechanics as a whole rated higher than any other department in job satisfaction. The work might have been rough but they were happy doing it.

Not because it’s garbage trucks, but because you’d have to live in BR

From the amount of oil dropped on the street in front of my house each time they service my garbage containers, they leak like sieves. (Unless it is my neighbors dumping their cooking / engine oil into the garbage at a pretty significant rate?)

It’s a joke. Because trash service.
