My HS did a form of this but it wasn’t a full lock-in.

Graduation
Dinner / dance
Casino nite and breakfast
Everyone gets to leave around 6AM

It had its own set of issues including the choice of venue for the dinner and a number of my classmates pregaming.

To explain about the venue, my class had a retreat to bring us all together earlier in the school year.

About two days after we got back, the headmaster told us we had an offer from a facility to host the dinner and we had a choice whether to do so because it had a history of racial exclusion.

Major argument ensued to where the small black contingent and a few supporters dug in their heels on anything that wasn’t in the NBR ghetto.

Final result? Dinner was held at White Oaks plantation. I’m not sure if that is better or worse than a country club which had an exclusionary past.

I think your high school had the same fate as my high school, both are now middle schools

Ours did and our attendance was probably about 80. I don’t remember much from it. Everybody did their big shindig the following night though

I don't remember what we did graduation night but I'm pretty sure we didn't have anything like this.

Nope, he ended up getting out of the priesthood and got married. Poor guy went to the seminary after 6th grade and would have been a hell of an athlete. Next door neighbor to relatives as a kid. they thought the world of him

I've heard of that for proms. Haven't heard of it for graduation, but I guess it would work for that also.
