I know players protect their line bet on the come out roll by placing an ANY bet. So, if $5 on the line, place a $1 ANY bet to protect against the 2, 3 or 12.

But, if you are a normal $100 line player, you would normally place a $15 ANY bet to cover your line bet, correct?

Instead of doing this, why not start off with a $5 line bet and then once the number is established increase your line bet to $100? This way if 2, 3 or 12 are thrown on the roll out you only lose $5. If you tried to cover $100 line bet with a $15 ANY bet, then you lose the $15 if a number is established.

Does this make any sense or my thinking is going in the wrong direction?

Should've deployed in the checkerboard quincunx formation.

Throw a 5 dollar horn out there. Hit it, press it, profit.

But if you throw out a $5 horn on a $100 line bet and your max profit on the horn is $30. Now, you are hedging your bet by pressing it, hoping the next roll is another craps, correct?

So, if the second roll is not a horn bet winner, you still lose your original $100 line bet, correct?

Pretty sure you can only triple your original bet so if you start with five, you can go to 15 behind it for 20 total.

How are you increasing your initial Pass line bet from $5 to $100 after the point has been established? Do you mean backing the line bet with $85? Because this is a lot different than increasing your Pass line bet.

Gamblersbookclub.com/Craps-Books

dicesetter.com/irish/roundtablesbooks

wizardofodds.com/games/craps/

Anything by Frank Scoblete or John Patrick or John Scarne on Craps is great.

Every single bet on a craps table is -EV. And guess what, any linear combination of -EV bets is also -EV. Sorry, but you're fricked no matter what you do

You have a 22% chance of winning a line bet before the point is established. That's the best odds you'll have on any roll. After the point is established, your odds of winning your pass line bet go down and odds of losing go up. Waiting to put down your max line bet until after the point is established doesn't make sense...at least to me.

You're actually wrong. Most casinos give even EV on backing your pass line wager with odds. Granted, your pass line bet is still -EV and I always feel like I'm the only one at the table not throwing crazy money on the sucker middle bets

While absolutely true, if you must partake of a den of degeneracy, it at least provides a "puncher's chance" in contrast to the vast majority of casino real estate which is "straight donation"..

Single Deck Blackjack(good luck finding this!), Craps with strict basic strategy adherence relying primarily on DP/DC bets..and maybe some Baccarat..

And off to the Sportsbook for NFL isolated marquee tv game dog bets with strong RLM and/or inter-division dogs in revenge game spots.

The best piece of advice you will ever get on playing craps is going to come from the 'ol Corch here, and it is this: Play the Dont's. You might get some ugly looks when you are on a hot table, but you will make money (albeit slowly-shitty odds).
