The cancer was descending almost in a straight line, averaging about 1 tenth of a mile per year. Gentrification has tried to hold that line.

Pockets of cancer are sprouting all over in the healthy parts and are growing. Mismanagement from the top is feeding the cancer. The healthy cells are leaving, making the cancer spread more quickly.

A recent series of events will make the cops want to leave to live elsewhere. They will be unable to replace them without paying substantially more. They will be unwilling/unable to raise the pay because the tax base is leaving.

As the cops diminish, the cancer grows quicker. 20 years from now it will be drastically different.

Probably. The lack of infrastructure expansion means the heavily traveled roads that are full now, and won't be expanded in 20 years helps this.

The fact that livable area in Ascension and Livingston is limited by topography, along with the lack of ever building new roads to handle the traffic makes west and NW a viable option. Exxon and it's feeders need employees. They have to live somewhere that is accessible to work.

The same unimproved, tired roads with wrecks everyday and more people are going to make it 90 minutes to Gonzales from downtown.

Livonia is getting pretty isn't it?

It's a shame to see it the way it is now. 20 years ago it was way different. I'm glad I saw it in the 80's and 90's before it turned into N.O. Part 2.

We will still be waiting on comite river diversion canal to help with flooding.

Correct answer: it will look just like Jackson

I was there 95-97. Is that much worse now than it was then? It was no great shakes then and people barely even conceived of LSU as being a top 10 program.
