Baton rouge lives storm hit to storm hit as if the last one didnt happen. Trees grow without trimming and then oh no another storm comes along and wrecks the city grid and people complain and want lines underground and better response but then two years later those same people complain and complain when the power company comes and cuts a tree in the right of way for the lines. I have never understood it.

I prefer to hear the sound of the wind whipping the trees to the sound of a loud arse generator

Anybody got a decent estimate for full power restoration in BR?

Baton Rouge is gonna have a bunch of distribution poles down. Shouldn’t be too much to handle but it’s gonna take a few days . There’s a few transmission lines out so hopefully those damages won’t keep substations in the dark for long

well I will have an 18 year old in 2 weeks (yes I’m crazy and started over) but we didn’t have that crap when she was a baby. I just gave her blankets which apparently is not safe. Everything I did with her is now unsafe. Don’t know how she didn’t die. The baby has been a swaddle/sleep sack baby since he was born. Helped him sleep longer at night. And now he is just used to it.

BR equipment is out dated, I am not even joking I called entergy everyday for a month straight to fix the power lines and transformers around my house because a light drizzle would knock out
Power for several hours, and after calling everyday for a month they finally came out and fixed it and updated the stuff here and I haven’t lost power since for more than 20 mins and that’s been right at a year

or does entergy just have old shite that falls apart when a 5 mph wind happens?

It doesn’t matter what you design poles to if a bunch of debris or a tree falls into the wire. All you can hope is it’s an easy fix and it’s not structurally damaged

We’ve got sustained tropical storm force winds in Monroe 5 hours from the center. 40 gusting to 56.

62 was the highest gust for Laura here.

During Laura I watched a tree fall at the end of the storm and snap the line by our house. Considering only two houses were affected by it I knew we were screwed. 9 days later power came back on

Idk what the conditions need to be considered safe for them.

For stuff like this that's really without lightning, it's usually the wind that holds them back. As soon as the wind is below something like 30 or 40 mph, they'll be out surveying and starting the repairs. As widespread as this is, though, it might take a while. That's a lot of line to survey and repair.

God, I hate Peej.
