Easier said than done. You must have notarized proof.

Yeah he did. They’re awesome but they’re also a massive luxury.

I have family in Rayne and friends in Crowley and I’m in Lafayette. I was checking wind speeds on my weather app for all three earlier and Crowley and Rayne both registered gusts of 93 mph. Highest I saw for Lafayette was 82 mph gusts.
Power has been out for a couple of hours. Transformers popping off all over. Cajundome Blvd. still has power though
Things in church point have calmed down a lot. I’m surprised the gusts were that high, I wasn’t able to check what they were over here earlier.
Edit: As I post that, the first gust I hear in a while comes through.

We are getting gusts as strong as we've had all night right now around Jones Creek.
This is the strongest wind we have had in Central
Seems like gusts are longer if that makes sense
Right now, it's basically quiet, and a BIG gust comes in and pushes for about 8-10 seconds, and then lets off for about 20 seconds of quiet again. Like, sustained seems to be maybe 10 mph or so, with gusts 3-4x that.
Makes it worse, the bedrooms are all on that side of the house, you hear it coming.
WTF is the lone downvoter here, anyway? There were a couple pages were every post had a downvote. Who downvotes in a hurricane thread?

Anyone know if it is worth it running a whole home off propane? I don't have natural gas, but I have propane for my shop. Would not likely need to run it for days on end.
I looked this up when Laura came through. Whole house generators will use about 4 gallons of propane per hour at full load, so that 1000 gallon tank will last you about 10 days running balls out. It'll likely last longer than that, of course, because you don't run your house at full tilt 24 hours a day.

Just took the dog out for a walk around the block. Can confirm it’s still breezy in Lafayette. Trees and fences are down and that damn wind done chapped my lips.

Definitely has calmed down in New Iberia

The original post was sustained hurricane force winds.
Not sure anywhere has had that outside of extreme southern Vermilion and Cameron Parish.

Everyone in MC bought one after Andrew and haven’t needed it for more than a week total since 1992.

So my neighbor’s boat slip is coming apart and the metal is slapping the pylon like Animal from the Muppets. Sound like a transformer blowing every 15 seconds.
It’s a little gusty in Maurepas.

My folks strongly considered when my Pops was sick and needed all sorts of medical equipment. They live in an area that can be sketchy at times with the lightest of storms, but is prone to tornadoes. They/we lost power for nearly 5 days after April 27. That kind of spooked them, and when he got sick, that's all they could picture.
