I know posting tough shite on the internet satisfies something inside you but when it comes down to it
You’re just an a-hole
You’re just an a-hole

There is an additional reservoir capacity behind levees in Terrebonne as several levees in Chauvin, Dulac, and Montegut have older levees that predate the Morganza to the Gulf system that will act as a second line of defense.
i can see the “redundancy” levee behind Montegut while i type this.
as a lifelong resident here that has been through 5 floods, and an avid fisherman that has seen the backsides of the “Morganza” levee, i’m not nearly as confident as you seem to be.
Laura came extremely close to topping it.
Juan, Andrew, Lili, Rita, and Ike all flooded us (Betsy did too, but i wasn’t born yet).
Hell i was on our levee and watched it fail for Rita.
most impressive and terrifying thing i ever witnessed in person.
At this point i have to hope for a direct-ish hit.
because i truly have no faith in our levee holding up to a storm hitting Morgan City-Lafayette.

Here is a map of the Levee heights of the South Lafourche Levee System done earlier this year that the Levee district posted on Facebook a few weeks ago. The Yellow box is the actual heights and the orange box is the 100 Year Storm Level. There is only one low section between LOOP and Clovelly.

Cameron ended up being dead center of Laura's infamous cone even taking into account all the fretting over shifts. Cameron was always in the cone.

He is. But that's nothing new.

Yeah, if it ever gets to the point where the levee in South Lafourche gets topped, it’s over for all of south Louisiana.
That thing is a beast. Although I will say I stood on it while Ike passed south of us and the water got pretty damn high. Obviously there was room to go, but it did look a little scary.

Those nightfall gifs like that are always terrifying to me.

PUB reminds me of some stockholm victim trying to convince themselves their abuser is actually a good person. In the back of his mind he doesn't want to believe whatever facts he sees in front of him he'll find a way to convince himself it's not true or downplay it any way he can.

Both the 18z HWRF & HMON are coming in significantly stronger.

If memory serves me right, that system and the Jefferson Levee systems are the only 3 systems that have not been overtopped. Jefferson still flooded in areas for Katrina, but that was because of incompetence (not running the pumps because the pump operators were moved to higher ground) and not overtopping.

That plays well with the Lili idea too. IIRC it was dry air that got into the storm and ate it up to cause the collapse.
It looks like Lili got sheared pretty good and that allowed dry air to get into the circulation. I haven't done much reading on that system but it makes sense.
Delta is absolutely dominating the upper levels with outflow, shear looks to be low on the approach. Low shear combined with forward speed probably counteracts the negative of cooler temps closer to shore.

That’s true and I admit it. But that poster has to be a troll.
No one can be that dumb

Hope everyone has been doing well.

#Delta is now forecast to have winds of 120 mph in a couple of days. If this forecast verifies, Delta would become the strongest Greek named #hurricane in the Atlantic on record, breaking the old record set by Beta (2005) which had 115 mph maximum sustained winds.
