Let me settle this argument once and for all.
1. Large airliners dump fuel to reduce their weight in an emergency landing. This is because when fully loaded with fuel, they are too heavy to land safely.
2. Jet fuel can and most times will explode during a plane crash. This fact is well documented and cannot be argued against.

Just to illustrate, I fly the A330. On the -302 series (an extra tank) our takeoff weight can be almost 120,000 pounds over our certified max landing weight.
This flight was a 777 going to Shanghai, about a 14 hr flight.
