What's your definition of a negative outcome? And where is your data that there have been 1,500 surgeries performed
What about a patient that doesn't need a procedure that gets it anyway?

Some ophthalmologists are acared to speak up because the optometrist will never again send them a patient
If they are a good surgeon would they need referrals from an Optometrist? Especially since you say they aren't qualified to do surgery?

Results are required for license renewal. Again it's public information go get it.

What would Oakdale have to do with this conversation?

All good surgeons rely on referrals from non-surgeons when it comes to non-emergent procedures.

Oakdale is the capital of scope-of-practice-itis

What is your view of the scope of an optometrist? What is an optometrist?
Posted on 5/24/16 at 11:31 pm to LATigerdoc
Where does the advancement of optometry end?
Posted on 5/24/16 at 11:33 pm to LATigerdoc
The scope of Optometry ends where it's taught in school. At this time scope in Louisiana for an Optometrist is done except for playing defense.

You put out the 1500 number and claimed no negative outcomes.
If that were actually true, you would have posted the link when you made the claim.
No link = no dice.
Making data-based claims then playing hide-and-seek with the source is a bitch move that, in the end, undermines your position.
"Contact the optometry board"......

You don't think optometry would like to do intraocular surgery?

Sure I carry the info with me everywhere I go. However I'll stand behind it prove it to be wrong.
Just like three years ago it was told no way the same stuff could be done in OK and KY with no negative outcomes. Same situation but none of you can provide anything to the contrary except it's impossible.

I believe you're referring to an ophthalmologist
That's a medical doctor who is also a surgeon and can manage any disease - medical or surgical - of the eye which he has adequate training / experience in managing and can also manage refractive error which is not a medical problem
