Anyone ever heard of this guy? From NOLA, graduated from LSU. Positive message. Is that frowned upon in the hip-hop community? Do people see him as the hip-hop equivalent of Stryper from the 80's hard rock genre?

Lil Wayne punked him when Dee-1 was going to put out a mixtape talking bad about Weezy. Told him he was going to send them killas after him and Dee-1 never released the tape.

I have heard of him. Roommate in college went to Franklin with him.

Was almost embarrassing at Freds when he performed.

I've seen Hurricane Chris (Kris?) rapping about Halle Berry in front of the LA legislators posted at least six times. I guess since it's not controversial/doesn't fit some people's agenda, the "Sallie Mae" song posts don't get bumped as much.

I put on concerts and have worked with Dee-1 several times over the years and have seen him at a bunch of different events and what not. Great dude, all around. Not necessarily all of his music is my favorite but a lot of his discography is pretty dang good.

He does do the more positive message which probly has him getting overlooked but has worked with some prominent artists. Last I checked he's still signed to a major (RCA I believe) and he's still steady gigging so that's good. I believe he's releasing another project kinda soon.

Also I believe the controversy behind that tape with the Wayne problems was not that he was talking bad about him but was using all Lil Wayne beats and I guess there was an issue there.

He does have an old track sort of "challenging" Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and Lil Wayne to maybe use their influence better. Jay, 50, Weezy
