Is oj simpson an easy to prove case?

I was in 5th grade when that happened, but I assume no since he wasn't found guilty after a trial.

The case we're discussing doesn't meet that criteria.

So how do we pick those that are clearly guilty for the death penalty?

If the evidence shows a cat intentionally places an explosive device in a crowded event, next to an elementary school age kid - with a big smile on his face?

Death penalty. I ask 1000 average Democrat party members, and ~980 will agree with me.

If Tsarnaev doesn't deserve death - nobody does.

I'll be honest, I'm not going to lose any sleep over this guy being put to death, and I doubt he would have lasted more than 2 years in our prison system.

If taken to Indiana, he would just be in solitary confinement for the remainder of his life?

but I've also seen people advocating the death penalty for non-murder crimes too, which really worries me.

Yeah, I'm one of those people. Rape a child, get the needle.

I could've quoted your entire post and asked the same question.

I wasn't talking about anything you said to me.

Because it was unanswerable, which is what I said to you.

He definitely deserves it. Question is whether it's an appropriate punishment all things considered. He deserves death AND worse.

Ok so Dzhokhar fits exhibit a for the death penalty. What other instances would justify the death penalty being used? If you want to pick and choose the specific instances where the death penalty is justified, I am just curious as to what those instances are.

I don't think the death penalty should be used for anyone. My position is quite clear.

I don't get this attitude. I know the common defense is that some innocent people get put to death, but in an easy to prove case like this and others, why the hell not?

Because the cases where innocent people were wrongly convicted and murdered by the government were also "easy to prove."

I would still stand by my statement, even if he was in solitary confinement. The amount of people that commit suicide in solitary is astronomically high.

The Aurora shooter is another recent one.

Stout obviously meant the easy to prove cases like this one, silly.

I think it is a law in Louisiana for raping a child under a certain age. Not sure if they have ever applied it but I would support it.

Some say death penalty will make him a martyr in the eyes of his people. LWOP would have been more painful.

They have zero respect for others and life so why should we respect theirs? Might be small-minded of me I guess.

Well there are many reasons for why.

The point you made here, we respect their lives because we are above them. You further condemn their crimes by not lowering yourself to their level.

There is the Supreme Court ruling about the death penalty in California. There are so many appeals that over half of death row dies of natural causes before being executed. So it's "cruel and unusual" to sentence someone to death with a chance of execution. Of course if you speed up the appeals process then you start killing people who don't deserve it.

You could argue that anyone who would commit a crime worthy of the death penalty has to be mentally ill. You cannot be a normal functioning human and blow up a marathon of people. And executing people who are mentally ill is kind of a grey area in my mind. Of course the question is what do you do with someone like that besides kill them.

Agree. It would likely have to be suicide as opposed to someone else killing him.

It was struck down by the Supreme Court in 2008 in Kennedy v. Louisiana.

Interestingly enough, Obama and McCain both came out against the Supreme Court in that verdict.

Link?

I am not saying the standard couldn't be refined, but it's hard to argue against this guy, mass school/mall/etc shooters, the Colorado movie shooter, Timmy Mcveigh, Dahmer, etc.

You think any of them should be shown sympathy and waste tax payer dollars to house for the rest of their natural lives?
