Dear OT - What should I do?

Ok first off I have a 2011 Tundra with 38k miles. Saturday morning as I was going to work my check engine light came on and I noticed I don't have nearly the accleration I should.
Well since it was the 4th of July I didn't think autozone would be open so I went sunday to get them to plug into my trucks computer and get the code to see what's wrong. Code showed that my Secondary Air injection system was stuck in the open position.
So I Google what exactly that was and it really isn't essential to function of the motor but it puts the truck in "limp" mode and you don't get much power. Also from 2007 to 2010 Tundra and Sequoias had the same issues so Toyota extended their warranties.
So I made an appointment with local dealer via website since it was sunday. Appointment is Tuesday. I called them today and asked about warranty, lady didn't know and put me on hold for about 20 minutes before I hung up.
So next I called Toyota Customer Care to see if under warranty since previous year had warranty extended for same problem. Lady told me that because I'm 1 year over 3 year 36000 mile basic warranty and that since my truck is a 2011 and not a 2010 it's not the same part and not a defect so no I'm not covered.
This can be a $4000 fix for a fricking emissions check part. What are my options besides suck it up and pay?

I would buy the part off the Internet and fix it myself.

Like any other customer service issue you have the option to elevate. My parents were successful in doing this with their Lincoln a couple of years ago (documented common problem emerged about a year out of warranty.) Dealership service initially balked, elevated to management, elevated to corporate. They ended up paying some token fee (like $75), but everything else was covered. Look for a Toyota USA Customer relations number at gethuman.com.
Try talking to the dealership's honchos first. Even at a lower level they may be willing to give you a break (maybe meet you half way).

I have a Tacoma and did this last month
The part was 1300 most places. Found it for 400 on ebay

Or if you don't feel like you can handle it, buy the part and find some Asian mechanic who'll install it a fraction of what the dealer says.
BTW, if the vehicle is out of warranty, why are you taking it there for any repairs?

Well now I'm only going to get a quote since it's out of warranty. My brother in law is a army mechanic so my wife is asking if he knows how to fix it. If he doesn't I'll goggle how to fix it and if that doesn't work I'll get a shade tree mechanic here at work to do it. I'm just pissed really.

Get a fsm and order the part off ebay. Also check out Tundra Solutions they have a wealth of knowledge.

I bought a used Tundra with 48,000 miles through a dealer a few years ago. I had the same problem not long after. They replaced both sides with this problem. Didn't cost me a penny.
