It's unbelievable how quick it goes. My oldest grandson is 15 years old. He was with me all the time when he was little. I don't get to spend as much time anymore with him because sports and he has his own buddies and just growing up. He wrote me a hand written letter last year and it's something I'll hang onto the rest of my life.

My grandpa was my best friend. I wish I had written him a letter like that.
It all just goes by so fast and all we’re left with is memories and a photo here and there of something that exists only in photos and memories. The saddest of those are the ones where you’re the only one left with that memory.

I’ve been there. The best thing to do is realize they have to grow up and enjoy each phase of life with them. And antidepressants don’t hurt either.

My youngest just moved out a couple weeks ago and it hurt pretty bad.

I’m going to Virginia with my oldest to drop her off at college in 2 weeks and I can’t wait. There will be so much less drama in the house.

It’s unreal. I can’t stand how much time we have to focus on work and bullshiat when we really need to be enjoying our kids.

As someone who is planning on having kids in the next year, i will take this advice to heart.

Seems like just a couple years ago I was bringing my little princess to Pre-k 4 for the first time. Talk about leave with a lump in your throat. Last week I helped her bring her stuff to the sorority house for the last time as she started student teaching her own Pre-k 4 kids. Brings a tear to my eye knowing she will be on her own in what seems like the blink of an eye.

It's hard to explain to people without kids.
And most of us can't remember much before 5 years old.

But, it's that Unconditional Love you get from them, and it's the pure joy and wonder that you get to see again through their eyes.
It's the absolute best hugs. Where you get to hold them, and they get to hold you. And neither wants to let go.
The yelling and giggling when you see them at the end of the day, and them seeing you is the best part of both of your days.
Those memories and feelings stay with Parents always.

We get to be jaded old farts as we age.
But there's a magic about having kids, to which nothing else in the entire world can compare.
