My comments on the line items.

Sun protection package, don’t want it, don’t need it, not paying it.

Doc fee - Closing fee for title attorneys on a house is 450, they do more work than you. 300 tops

Who is the license fee paid to, if it’s you that’s your cost not mine

So what number is what you should shoot for, MSRP + TTL? I don't do the extras like warranty and such but do want floor matts and maybe trunk matt. So is that a good formula, MSRP + TTL and ask for them to add for free matts?

They can kick rocks with that $3k package.
As for fees… they can also kick rocks. If they wanna sell a car then tell them $31k is your only acceptable OTD price.
In today’s market they will eventually budge.

I look at the breakdown…manufacture add ons + distributor add ons(red flag here) + dealership add ons, shipping/handling + taxes. So with everything, it’s close to 25% over advertised price.

frick all that bs. Find the car you want. Add tax to the advertised price. Hand them a check. If they give you any push back, walk out the door. They will call you back within 24 hours. When you go back hand them a check that is a few hundred dollars less than the previous one. Tell them this is the last check they'll ever see from you.

Do you mean MSRP as would the advertised price include all their extra fees besides TTL?

We bought our 2023 4Runner in 2022 when there were shortages of vehicles and almost all dealerships were adding $2,000-5,000 to the MSRP because of "supply and demand." We only found three dealers in the entire nation at that time that would sell us a vehicle at EXACTLY sticker price. One was in Idaho, one was in West Arkansas, and one was one hour from our house in Jackson, TN. Robinson Toyota in Jackson is very straightforward. If you want to call them and use my name as a reference just let me know. Sticker does not sound great until you think about everyone else raising way above that.

I passed if course. I could only imagine trying to buy a vehicle during Covid when the lots were empty. They are full everywhere and they still trying to pull this shite.

They really let you walk because you wouldn’t buy their dumbass “protection plan”? The “protection plan” for parts on the vehicle is called insurance.

I'm talking about the sticker price or the price they have on their website. Or hell if you want to get extra aggressive, pick a number YOU think the vehicle is worth. Do your research and figure out the current market. The price is negotiable.

They will always try to add fees and bs when they sit you down. Then they want you to finance through them and add gap insurance and buy into some bullshite extended warranty. Hell they'll tell you that the market has adjusted over night like a chevy is some kind of stock and that the new sticker price is another $1000 higher.

Find out what the car is worth. Add tax. Hand check. Don't play their games.

Whatever you do, do not ever do business with Rainbow Buick GMC in Covington. Scum of the fricking earth.

Appreciate any feedback you can give us to why. We are looking at the new 2025 Yukons and this dealership is on our radar

They got their hand in your pocket when you walk in. I never trust them or listen to word they say. Here’s what I’ll pay and call me if we have a deal. In and out in 30 minutes. I’m not sitting down for 3/4 hours and negotiating. Waste my time and yours.

I have gotten to where the only time I walk in is to sign and drive.

I do everything necessary by email only and make sure they do not have my phone number until we have agreed on the necessary stuff.

I dont need to test drive anything at the dealership. If it has been something my wife or I were interested in, there is a 99.9% chance that one of our friends or neighbors have one that we can take for a spin.

Best dealership ever was a small Ford outfit in San Augustine, TX.

I did the entire deal by email, docusigned and they delivered to my office in NWLA for $100.

I actually love the fact that certain dealers are trying to force you to buy an interior/exterior protection product at roughly $1500. One that hasn’t even been applied to the vehicle prior. That bs cost the Volvo dealer in Brentwood a sale yesterday. Car salesman said it was the 4th lost sale of his this month.

You have to go in relentless and show no remorse in dealing with car salesmen! frick their feelings!

Exactly! After you find a vehicle you are satisfied with and start negotiating you need to get rid of the salesman and talk directly with the sales manager. Salesmen have no authority to make a deal.

So I decided to shop for a slightly used one on cars guru. Contacted a few dealers.

Dude! You got to get off your arse and shop in person if at all possible.

Also, you are violating Rule number 1 of negotiation. The dealer will never give you his lowest price if you dont offer him less than that lowest number. You have to offer substantially less than the advertised price - in some cases as much as 30% less. If you ask for his lowest price then you got took to the cleaners…

I hate buying cars. The minute a salesman starts basing the competition I immediately lose interest. That’s a skeeze ball tactic. Not buying shite from anyone doing that

Didn't Saturn try this and went back to the haggle method of car buying/selling?
